Need to Get OUT!

So, last night was crazy. I got super hyper on sugar, got into a fight with Addison, she went out on a date or something, I stole her phone, and yeah.

The next few weeks went by slowly. The guy in the trench coat didn't show up again, I found out that Raina went to the same school as I do, and I discovered that Butch and some of his cronies were sent to the ER with injuries like a broken nose, a concussion, and a few fractured bones. I swear that I had nothing to do with that.

At home, Addison seemed distracted by something, but she would never tell me what. She would either skirt around the subject or lie to my face. That hurt more then I let on. Something was going on between mom and dad. Dad was never home anymore and mom, being as insecure as she can be took out some of her emotional stress out on us. Not physically, but verbally. Addison in turn, would absorb this stress and would take it out on me. Dad avoided all of this because he was never home. This kept up for longer then I could take, and soon I was spending all of my extra time outside or at least away from home. I still had to do my homework at home though.

One of these days I was finishing up my math homework while laying on my bed, when I heard a crash downstairs, followed by screaming and sarcasm. I sighed and dropped my head onto my crossed forearms. I peered at my homework. I only had 2 problems left. Eh, screw it. I'm outta here.

I hoisted myself off of my bed, grabbed a couple bucks in cash and thumped downstairs, and passed the kitchen where mom and Addison were screeching at each other like cats.

" And just where do you think your going young man?!" I heard my mom's shrill voice as I reached for the door. I froze, then slowly turned on my heels.

"I was just heading out for a walk." I said.

"Without telling me?!" She shouted. I thought about saying something snarky like 'well I just did didnt I?' But I figured that wasn't in my best interest.

" I have my phone with me." I said, proving my point by pulling out my phone. She harrumphed and was about to say something else when Addison interrupted her.

"How come you let home go where ever he wants but not me?!" She said, crossing her arms.

"Because he is a boy and you are still grounded from that fit you threw last week!" I heard mom say as I snuck through the door. Finally.

I let my feet carry me where ever. In about an hour, I found myself in our towns open air mall. I browsed around, looking at Marvel and DC comics sweatshirts, some sweet flatbrims and this one store that sells knives with a bunch of swords and a bunch of Asian stuff.

I was just walking out of that store when all of the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I whipped around, and in one of the ally ways, a figure in a trench coat stood in the dark.

Squinted at him, the started to walk over. The man stood there until I was close, before turning around and walking off. I started into a trot, then a jog.

"Hey, wait!" I called after him as he walked behind a bend.
I ran around the corner and was jerked roughly to the side into yet another inlet that held two dumpsters.

I was face to face with the man but because of his hat and the dark, I still couldn't make out any defining features, although I was able to confirm that he did, in fact, have a mustache. He towered over me and kept his death grip on my red sweatshirt.

"Wha-" I was quickly silenced by his hand over my mouth. I glared at him and yanked his hand off, then gestured at him what? Angrily.

He looked around,

"You are in more danger than you know. They have agents everywhere, you must be careful. Do not draw attention to yourself. If they catch you, they will make you a slave." He whispered. What the flying spatulas was he talking about? I opened my mouth to say something but he shoved me out of the little cubby hole we were in and briskly walked away. I was too stunned to think about following him and I kicked myself for it afterwards.

I turned, shoved my hands into my sweatshirt pockets and left the ally way. What did he mean that I was in danger? Who were these agents that he was talking about. Maybe I should tell Addison. No, she would just flip out and yell at me. But what if the danger that I was in included her? Was this a life and death situation? Fear started building in my chest. Stupid. Why was I listening to some creepy guy? Was I willing to risk my safety by ignoring him though? And what was this whole business about becoming a slave? I don't think so!

My thoughts were interrupted by a shuffling noise behind me. I turned around and realized that I was tingling the way I sometimes do when I am using my powers. Uh oh.
