Whoa

After a lot of careful consideration and excellent stalkership, I found myself knocking at Raina's front door that night. The door swung open to reveal the large, burly shape of Ryan. I gulped, then steeled myself to show no fear.

"I am here to see Raina, is she home?" I asked. To my relief, my voice didn't crack. Ryan crossed his arms menacingly.

"And why would a young boy, such as yourself, want to come to the home of a young teenage girl?" He asked slowly.

"Uh, we have some things to talk about." I said awkwardly.

"I'm sure." He said, leaning against the door frame.

"Seriously, I'm just here to talk about something that happened earlier." I said.

"Oh really?" He said in his low voice.

"Yes!" I said, growing irritated. I low chuckle emanated from Ryan's chest.

"Alright then, come in." He said, leaning sideways to open up half of the door way. I looked at the little sliver of door that he had allowed me. Really? I trod up and uncomfortably pushed my way passed him as I heard him chuckle to himself. Now that I was in the house, I realized that he hadn't told me where she was and from the looks of it, he wasn't going to. I sighed irritably, then stopped to listen for her in case she was being loud enough for me to hear. That way I wouldn't look like a really creepy idiot searching through their house. Turns out that I was in luck. I heard a muffled banging coming from below me. I looked around till I saw a door that looked like it might lead to a stairway (Which it did) and headed down.

Light poured up the stairs as I trotted down. I hit the bottom and there was Raina. But this wasn't just the fancy, quiet Raina that I had seen at dinner, nor the well dressed, well put together Raina from the spontaneous magic show. No, this was a feisty, fighting, sweaty, half-dressed, punching, sexy beast. The banging that I had heard from upstairs had been Raina punching a punching bag. She was wearing a sports bra, half gloves, shorts, and sneakers. I really tried hard not to drool but she made that even harder when she stopped hitting and leaned up against the bag, put her arm above her head and glared at me. I think she said something but I didn't hear her.

"Wow," I heard myself squeak out in the most unmanly way possible.

"What was that?" she asked. Crap.

"Nothing," I strained. Yeah, pretty sure my brain blew up, or at least stopped working. I shook my head and looked away, trying to remember why I had come here in the first place. "I wanted to talk to you about what happened at the mall." I said.

"What about it?" She asked curtly. Why? Why was that so freaking hot to me? Crap, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, the fact that she knew about me.

"How did you know?" I asked. She sighed irritably and smirked at me.

"Know what?" She asked all coy. I crossed my arms and leaned back against the wall next to the door.

"About me." I said. She sighed again but this time it was a little more exasperated.

"Well, you were dragging a giant vending machine towards you. It was kind of obvious something was going wrong." She said. I shrugged,

"Yeah, but you stopped to help." I said. She snorted.

"So?" she asked.

"So, most people would have just stood there and watched as the freak brought vending machines to himself." I supplied.

"Let's just say that us magicians have to look out for each other." She said. Wait. Us? She was one too? I was about to say something but she started punching the punching bag again and my brain shut down...Again. Merciful, pink, one-legged, hairless lepricans she was supposed to be the physical representation of evil, not this sexy, feisty goddess! What was wrong with me? Why was she the only one that effectively turned my brain completely off? Sure, there were a few girls that caused it to stutter but it had never shut off before. I realized she had stopped and made a face at me. My eyebrows raised as I tried to recall what we had bee talking about.

"Your a magician?" I asked, when I remembered.

"No, I'm a muggle." She replied sarcastically. Hot and witty. I was so screwed. I rolled my eyes at her, reverting to my default setting of sarcasm god.

"Ha, ha very funny...so, what do you do?" I asked. My curiosity helped to restart my brain a little.

"That's classified." She replied.

"By who, the NSA?" I asked, sarcastically. She frowned,

"No,  I will have to talk to my dad." She said. That's cool that her dad knew. Mine didn't. She started punching the bag again. To avoid total brain malfunction, I took a deep breath and adjusted myself to get a better look at their floor. It was a work out mat, in case you were wondering.

"Fine, can we talk about it after you talk to your superiors?" I asked, adding sarcasm to the word superiors.

"Sure, I'll get a hold of you." She said.

"When?" I asked, just to make sure she didn't wait like, six months. She rolled her eyes.

"Tomorrow." She said. Good.

"I'll hold you to that." I said, winking at her. If she was that attractive to me, then I was going to flirt. That's just how it had to be. Plus, that was the only way that I knew how to avoid awkward.

"Hmm, well then, see you tomorrow."

"See, ya." I said casually, and floated up the stairs. I rounded the corner at the top of the stairs and headed for the door, looking around for Ryan. He was in the kitchen, menacingly sharpening a knife. He looked up when he heard me and smirked an all knowing smirk as he drew the kitchen knife slowly along the sharpener. I swallowed and basically ran for the door.

Now, all that was left was for Raina to tell me where we were meeting. I was burning with curiosity. I wanted to know what she could do and how she could do it. Plus, she was a seriously multi-layered girl, who I was eager to get to know a little more. Besides, maybe, just maybe she wasn't that bad. Oh, well that's no good.
