Day two

I woke up and then suddenly Lucy jumped out at me. 'Happy birthday!'

'What?' I said, sleepily. 'Oh, thanks.' Lucy did the same to Kelli. Everyone in The Room of Glory sang happy birthday and went down for breakfast.

Back in our room, I talked to Kelli about Tina. 'Kelli, I had a best friend in Start Ville and we went into the test together. But she never came out. Her name wasn't called out. 14 of us were there in the hall but only 12 of us came out. Clementine, my best friend, was one of them. And this other boy whose name I don't know.'

'That boy. He must be James, my best friend. I was worried about him because he didn't come out of the hall. What could have happened to them?'

'I have no idea. Did they FAIL the test?'

'I'm not sure... Maybe they didn't get an ability.'

'That's what I thought...'

'What are you talking about?' Lucy asked us. We told her everything that had happened. 'Hmm... I see. One girl was left when I took the test too. It's all too mysterious. Maybe we can sneak back to Start Ville and hide in the testing hall.'

'Good idea. But how are we going to get there?'

'We'll fly there, of course! Why do you think we were put in Feather Ville?'

'We don't know how to!'

'Well, after you learn how to.'

'Can't you teach us?'

'No. They give you one of these bracelets,' she said, showing us her wrist. She was wearing a bracelet with beautiful beads and one charm was on it.

'What's the charm?' I asked Lucy.

'It determines your power.'

'Oh. When will we get one then? A charm bracelet?'

'When you go to school. On the second day, I think.' I started dreaming about being able to fly. I would fly back to Start Ville with Lucy and Kelli and we would find out what happened to Tina and James! I couldn't wait. But I knew this was serious. We were solving a mystery. Not playing.
