Liam sat sulken, arms lying across his desk, while his chin sat perched upon it. He sighed as he stared at the back of Niall's blonde head, wondering why he could he still see traces of brown in it. He must've dyed it, he guessed. But now that he thought of it, he wondered how he would look as a brunette. Pretty darn good, he realized, before shrugging the thought away.

Anyone with eyes could see that Niall was a cute boy, who could make anyone smile by the snap of his fingers, but Liam was pretty sure he didn't have a crush on him. Well, he was attracted to him in someway, like any other gay, hormonal boy would be. But, he didn't have any tingly feelings bubbling in his chest once seeing the boy, which usually helped him realize if he had developed a certain liking to someone. So, he decided that it was safe to fantasize about Niall, something that could for sure entertain him in his boring class.

Well, that was until he heard someone clearing their throat very loudly, snapping him out of his trance. He tilted his head to the side and saw Mrs. Thalia stand up from her chair, hands grasping a piece of paper tightly. His brows knitted together and he squinted, trying to guess what it might be. But obviously, he really couldn't see anything besides a slight blur of some random words printed on it, from the back of the page.

"Okay class," she said, attracting the attention of the other students. Pencils dropped from their fingers, causing them to clack against the desk or simply roll off in all. He rolled his eyes from the annoying sound and instead glared up at her, waiting for her to continue.

"Today we will be doing a project," she said and instantly his head swung down, while a groan left his lips. Niall turned around and glanced at him with an amused look, causing him to blush a bit.

He already knew what the next words that would leave her lips would be. Partner up with someone and do whatever the hell she assigned them to do. And while everyone sent glances or smirks to their friends, Liam sat there staring at his textbook. As the students around him immediately jumped out of their seats and raced towards their friends before Mrs. Thalia could even finish whatever she was saying, Liam sat there, looking around him blindly. Eventually, he'd stumble to her desk and she'd send him to some random pair of students, who'd either have him do all the work or basically ignore his existence. There was no in between.

And he almost patted himself on the back, once hearing those exact words leave her mouth.

"Alright, you know the drill, get in partners. Everyone will be getting a different topic and you'll have to write a report and make a PowerPoint about it, which you'll then present to the class. Capiche?" She asked and no one bothered to answer her, all instead running out of their seats and to their friends.

However, Liam remained in his position, eyes dull and nails scratching at the skin on his thumb. He could hear the loud conversations booming around him, while one extremely loud one was occurring right in front of him. Elaine, one of the prettiest girls in their grade, stood besides Niall, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, while she smiled at him.

"Wanna partner up?" She asked him hopefully, teeth biting down on her lip in a matter, Liam guessed she thought looked sexy. He didn't see it though.

He raised his gaze up hesitantly, watching as Niall frowned, causing him to furrow his brow. Why the hell would someone ever reject Elaine? Some of the guys would kill for this opportunity; hell, they even feel smug enough she turns her head their way and shoots a smile. And here Niall was, shaking his head at her and sputtering out apologies, saying how he already had a partner. But Liam didn't really know who his partner was, especially because the desk besides him was empty. And Elaine seemed to be thinking the same, when she asked an identical question.
