A/N So this is basically a long filler, but it does have foreshadowing and needed stuff. I wanted to get to the action in this chapter, but when I started writing I realized that I needed one or two more chapters of information and build up. I didn't intend for it to be this long but it just kinda happened and some of it will be important to know for later, so I couldn't find any way to shorten it. Not only that, but I added some light fluff in because I enjoy it. I also really like to make sure there is an abundance of detail so you can feel as immersed as possible and really feel the story. Hope you enjoy!

I wake up to a knocking on my bedroom door. Mary and I are still cuddled together under the blanket, and I really don't feel like getting up. "Come in." I say in a groggy voice. Mary stirs, and I feel bad for having to wake her. The door opens and Mark walks in. When he sees Mary and me, I can tell that he's trying to fight off a smile. "Do you want to go to the docks to see if mum comes in or do you want to wait here? Or we could open shop because we didn't yesterday?" Mark asks, and Mary opens her eyes. "What do you think we should do love?" I ask Mary, and I blush a little because I called her 'love'. "Well if ye want to go to the docks I could show ye m' ship." She says, smiling a little. Her voice is deep and scratchy like it usually is when she wakes up. "What do ye think lad?" Mary asks, lifting her head up enough to see Mark. "That sounds cool. If you guys get ready I'll make breakfast to eat on the way." And with that Mark walks out of the room, shutting the door behind him.

"Good morning" I say, giving Mary a quick peck on the lips. "Morning." She says. "I should probably clean myself up today, I may be meetin yer parents soon." Mary tells me, just a hint of distress in her eyes. "They will love you." I say to her, reassuring her. "But if it makes you feel better I can wash your clothes and draw you a bath. I need to clean up too." I say, and she nods. "If ye wouldn't mind..." Mary says, "Why don't I draw a bath, and while you're washing up I can wash clothes. When you're done, I'll wash up. We can get you some clean bandages, and if your clothes aren't dry by then you can borrow something from Mark. How does that sound?" I ask her, forming a plan for the beginning of the day. Mary agrees, so I go to tell Mark the plan.

Luckily for us, our parents payed for a well to be put in our backyard, so we don't have to walk very far to get water. We have a very tiny yard, but the back is fenced in so nobody can see into the yard. I put up a screen I got from my mother in front of the large barrel and fill it with water. Behind the tub is blocked by the fence, and the screen makes it almost like a room outside. "You don't mind that the water is cold, do you?" I ask Mary, not wanting to waste time boiling it. "Of course not! Ye're already doing too much for me." She says, looking as if she feels like a burden. "Stop talking like that, I really don't mind." I tell her, because I truly don't mind. "You can go first, just hand me your clothes over the screen when you're undressed, and I've left soaps and a towel right next to the tub for you." I tell Mary, and she responds with "Thank ye lass, I can't tell ye how much I appreciate it." She winks at me and goes behind the screen, and I wait for her to hand me her clothes. After a minute, she hands me her coat, shirt, bandana, and trousers. I put her clothes in a basket to carry them. Then she hands me her dirty bandages, and I put them in the waste bin at the back of the house.

I fill another barrel with water and soap, and begin to wash clothes. For me, I wash my bandana and best blouse and skirt, the ones I wore the night Mary told me that she was Mary. Then I wash "James'" clothes, and hang all of them on the clothes line. I than go into the house and grab a role of clean, cotton bandages. As I'm walking out, Mark finds me and tells me that he's going to head out early, and that he left breakfast in the kitchen. "I'll meet you at the docks in an hour, alright? I'm going to help Bennet finish work so if mum and dad get here he can leave early." Mark tells me. "You don't mind if James borrows some clothes do you? I washed his things but I don't know when they will be dry." I tell him, just making sure he doesn't mind. "Of course not. I'll see you soon." Mark tells me as he walks out the door.
