"We were kids, I was a fountain. You could never drink enough,"
Goodman(untitled 1) by Brand New

"Jacobson! Wake up!" A voice whispers. My brothers voice to be exact. Not as deep as mine yet, but maybe one day.

He's shaking my shoulders, and because I'm used to camp, I jump right out of bed. I'm on my feet before he even realizes and he loses his balance. I grab his arm before he falls. He looks at me in surprise.

"Wow. You scared me." Jack says, and then his face relaxes and he grins.

I let go of him once he is standing again.

"Good morning, Jack." I say.

"Mornin'."

"What are we doing today?" I ask this because he had talked about us doing something. Which, there isn't much we can do in this town. Walk on the polluted beach, maybe go to the gardens and get food for tonight.

I run my fingers through my hair and try to straighten my clothes.

"I thought you could meet Ivory and all of us could do whatever."

"Sounds like a plan." I comment. Instead of warning him about Ivory, I walk out the door with him.

----------

Jack said that Ivory lived on the edge of town. Close to the beach. Away from everyone. He had told me that her mother had died two years ago and that her dad still worked in the army as a commander.

So she lived alone now.

As we walk to her house, Jack mumbles about her. "Awe, man. I can't wait for you to see her! She's so nice, too. I bet you guys will get along just fine."

Oh, how he was wrong.

Her house is on a hill. And unlike our house, hers had no flowers or decorations. An old two story house, built out of bricks. Also unlike ours, some of the windows were boarded up.

He just stands there, smiling. Then I say, "Are you going to knock?"

"Oh, yeah. Right. I forgot." He shakes his head, grinning. He makes his way up to the porch of the house.

Every step he makes on the stairs make a creaking noise. So I guess this house is pretty old.

Instead of knocking like any normal person, he puts his mouth to the mail shoot and yells, "Ivy!"

Then, he knocks.

He steps back, and I think that he had heard her feet, because that's when the door swings open.

She's grinning too, and it's right in this moment do I notice that her teeth her perfect. Some people are born with normal teeth, but our country is very poor. So if you weren't, then you were out of luck.

And it's not just her straightness of her teeth, but also how white they are. A lot of people smoke, and even if we don't, it's not like we have some kind of whitener to help.

Ivory is grinning, grinning, grinning at Jack until her eyes land on me.

"What is he doing here, Jack?" She's narrowing her eyes at me.

"Who?" He asks, looking completely dumbfounded. Then her hand raises so very high, and her finger goes straight as her teeth. She's pointing at me, then Jack notices his brother that he took with him.

"Jacob? Haha, that's my brother." He puts his arm around her shoulders. Which looks very uncomfortable, just because he's shorter than her. His arm drops, and he grabs her hand instead.

"I know that's your brother. He's a complete ass." She growls at me, still giving death glares.

I shrug my shoulders. "I don't know what she's talking about, Jacky. I'm always sweet."

"Yeah right," They both say. But Ivorys was grounded out, and Jack is just laughing.

They walk down the steps together, and I watch as their hands stay glued to each other. I look up at Ivory, and her face flushes.

"Let's go, shall we?" I turn around and start walking.

This is really really short, and I'm sorry for that. Vote and comment please :) thanks
