(Dan's POV)
I ran,
But I don know where,
Or why.
Why had he kissed the ebony-haired beauty?
Why?
He felt tears slip down his cheeks,
Escaping him without his permission.
Heavy breathing made me pause,
Looking back,
I'd made pretty good distance,
Considering the physical shape I was in.
Why the hell had I done that?
Phil had looked just as surprised and confused as he felt,
And just like that,
The colors started to fade,
Leaving him in a world,
Of black and white.
He felt his will to live slip away from once again,
The will to die was strong again.
And he was curiously surprised,
For not having noticed.
Phil had stopped him,
Stopped him from the thoughts of death,
Ending himself,
He'd made him want to live.
To be alive.
To love.
But now he'd ruined everything,
By one childish act,
One greedy act.
He suddenly stumbled and fell,
Busting open his knee.
Injuried,
And alone.
But not for long.
"Hey there Daniel,"
The sickly sweet voice made him freeze in fear,
Eyes wide,
It was them.
"Injured? Poor baby, where's your boyfriend? Probably abandoned, just like everyone else, huh?"
He heard the venom in his words,
He was pissed that he'd gotten away last time.
"Typical, you just can't keep'em, hey, Howell?"
He heard the crunch of boots under gravel an flinched,
He was being kicked.
"Your nothing, kid. Your useless, why are you still even living? I thought I told you to die,"
He grabbed him by his hair,
Pulling him up.
"So why do you continue to pollute our air with your faggot breath."
He gave a whimper and gasp as he was kicked again,
And again,
And again.
The color being seeped and sucked from his world,
As was the light.
Until he saw a sparkle of blue,
The twinkle,
The fear,
The anger.
"HEY!"
He was barely able to lift his head as he smiled at what he saw,
Ebony-hair,
Ivory skin,
Ocean eyes able to pierce you if you weren't careful enough.
And they looked pissed.
"LEAVE. HIM. ALONE."
The guys that circled around me just laughed,
Beginning to gang up on him,
They were going to kill him.
But apparently Phil had a few surprises up his red-flannel sleeves,
A few that left Dan in awe.
He threw the first punch,
His ocean eyes shining through it all,
The spattering blood,
The broken bones,
The coarse language.
They were bright through it all.
I couldn't believe this was the Phil I had met,
Soft.
Considerate.
Anti-violent.
He watched as each boy,
Fell to the ground.
"Dan! Come on!"
Ocean blue eyes twinkling with worry as an ivory hand helped him up,
Eventually carrying him like a bride.
He lay his head against his broad chest,
He felt safe.
"Dan?"
He felt the vibrations of his voice through his chest,
Deep and husky.
Romantic.
"Yes Phil?"
He whispered softly.
"Are you okay?"
He checked himself over.
A busted open knee,
And a raw heart,
Full of love.
Yes,
And no.
"Okay."
Was his only response.
"Okay?"
He nodded, and smiled.
But his eyes did not crinkle.
He lay his head back down.
Those ocean blue eyes watching him.
blue being the last thing he remembered.
