After sharing many, many questions with each other, both Pearl and The Doctor were still no closer to understanding their predicament. True, Pearl did now know that this Doctor was a "time lord" from space, and that this ship of his was called a "tardis". The Doctor, meanwhile, knew that Pearl was a rebel from the alien race known as "Gems". But now came the tricky part: they still had to figure out how the two of them could get away from each other as quickly as possible.
"Let me get this straight," said Pearl. "You came to Earth to 'monitor' the activity of Gem technology?"
"No," the Doctor butted in. "I was accidentally dropped here while I was on my way to Earth."
"And I was accidentally "picked up" by you?", continued Pearl.
"Yes. So, to sum things up..." The Doctor stopped, and took a deep breath for a moment, before starting off talking again at a rapid fire pace. "My TARDIS accidentally phased into an alternate timeline, which is where you came from, while setting a course for Earth, where I found out about the presence of Gem technology on this "new Earth", based on my limited knowledge of your people that I'd collected, and decided to see if you were in the process of colonising the planet. But your warp pad happened to be in the same area as the TARDIS, and when we were both taking off our streams ended up crossing over, bringing you here."

Once the Doctor had finished his "explanation", all Pearl could do was stare back, dumbfounded.
"So...you do admit that you've been spying on-"
The Doctor suddenly cut of Pearl by putting his hand up, with a face that read "We're done here."
"What?" The confused Gem asked in an annoyed tone.
"That wasn't our agreement," said The Doctor. "You ask a question, and then I ask a question, remember?"
Pearl was just probably about to spit back at the Doctor with some comment about his "bluntness", but instead she took a deep breath and reminded herself that she needed to be patient with this "stranger." He was her only chance of getting out of here.
"Okay, just take me home, please", she spoke up.
"What?", The Doctor plainly responded
"Home, to MY Earth," Pearl spluttered in frustration. "My team needs me. And...Steven needs me!"
"Who is Steven?", asked the Doctor.

Pearl face palmed with an audible groan. She had literally told The Doctor who Steven was about 25 questions ago.
"Don't get upset now", the Doctor dismissively told her. "It's not like this is a very easy thing for either of us to get across to each other. I mean it probably feels like you've been kidnapped by some 'scary man in a flying machine.'"
"Well at least I didn't sound like I was making things up as I went along," grumbled Pearl.
The Doctor stood in silence for a bit, looking slightly caught off guard by Pearl's unflinchingly forceful attitude before simply responding, "Well, time travel is a complicated thing, okay? It's just a lot of-...wibbly wobbly...timey- whatever!", The Doctor broke off suddenly. "At least we can both agree that we should get things back on track before you decide to start criticizing my posture or my clothes."

The Doctor quickly turned and headed back to the TARDIS' control deck. Pearl followed close behind, just watching as The Doctor madly dashed about the rounded control panel; flipping a series of switches and mechanisms with some kind of loose but still strangely clear precision; like he done this thing a million time before. Then, without warning, the Doctor turned to Pearl grabbed her by the wrist and firmly yanked her over to a section of the control panel.
"Ow! What are you doing?", Pearl spluttered. "And don't you dare answer me 'with that wasn't our deal!' I am still not afraid to use force if-".
"Shut up and listen," the Doctor snapped. The Doctor directed Pearl's attention to an opening in the panel that appeared to be made of a glowing, fleshy substance.
"These are the TARDIS' telepathic circuits," The Doctor preached on. "Now if you'd kindly just stick your fingers in here, like so..."
After struggling a bit with Pearl's hand, The Doctor finally managed to stick it into the opening. Pearl just shivered; it felt just as unpleasant as it looked. "Now we should be able to lock on to the coordinates of your timeline more easily."
"For our sake, I hope you're right", muttered Pearl, before she suddenly realised something that was off about the Doctor's last sentence. What do you mean "should"?" said Pearl, who couldn't help but feel more uncomfortable.
The Doctor stayed a second as if he was genuinely surprised himself.
"Well...in your case, the TARDIS might not always be....100 percent specific in where you end up", murmured the Doctor uncertainly. Pearl just stared at The Doctor with a somewhat irritated look, before simply answering him with "Thank you, but I think I'll take my chances."

"Alright then, just picture yourself standing with your friends close at hand", The Doctor pressed on sternly, as if he were lecturing her. "Imagine that Steven-boy you won't shut up about, think about what he means to you."
Pearl concentrated as hard as she could on the Doctor's words. All she could think about was how Steven must've felt to see her disappear so suddenly, and how confusing that must've been for the poor soul. The Doctor, meanwhile, kept on pushing Pearl to focus.
"Nothing's happening. Come on, don't hold back those feelings. Try concentrating on other things that might be important to you, like how your "friends" must be feeling, to see you vanish before their very eyes."
Pearl squinted in concentration. Now her head was beginning to feel with thoughts of what must Steven be thinking after seeing her dragged away like that. How are her teammates planning on finding her, if at all? How would they get by without her?
That was when the TARDIS started to shake again and Pearl and The Doctor were thrown to the floor as the room flickered into sudden darkness.

And thus I leave you with a cliffhanger...
Now that I've (sort of) gotten the explanation-y stuff out of the way, I'll try to make the next chapter for interesting. But until then, goodbye, and feel free to leave suggestions.
