"Harry I still don't get why or who would have a problem with us to put our names into the Goblet," I said putting my hands in my robe walking along side him as all four of the champions were called back to meet at the quidditch pitch where the last task would be discussed. Ron and Hermione left half way up to the Gryffindor tower.
"I dunno anymore Am' what d'you think it'll be?," Harry asked looking over at me, the hallway seemed to be quiet and empty except for the occasional flutter and coo of a owl flying past the window.
"Fleur keeps going on about being underground tunnels, finding treasure or something," Shrugging lightly we swung the door open and went outside the cozy castle. Once we got there Harry and I both stopped.
"What have they done to it!," I said angrily. The quidditch pitch was no longer smooth and flat. It looked as though somebody had been building long, low walls all over it that twisted and crisscrossed in every direction
"They're hedges," Harry said bending trying to get a look at the nearest one.
"Hello there!," called a cheery voice. Ludo Bagman was standing in the middle of the field with Krum and Fleur, as we made our way toward them Fleur smiled widely at both of us. Her attitude changed toward us greatly since we 'saved' her sister from the lake. "Well what do you think? Growing nicely aren't they? Give them a month and Hagrid will have them twenty feet high. Don't worry," He added, grinning spotting the less-than-happy expressions on our faces, "You'll have your quidditch field back to normal once the task is over! Now I imagine you can guess what we are making here?," Nobody spoke for a moment. Then-
"Maze," Krum grunted
"That's right! A maze. The third tasks very straightforward. The Tri-wizard cup will be placed directly in the center. The first champion to touch it will revive full marks,"
"We seemply' 'ave to get through the maze?," Fleur said knitting her eyebrows together
"There will be obstacles provided by Hagrid," Bagman said happily dancing on the balls of his feet "All types of creatures.. Spells that will need to be broken. Now the champions who are leading on points will get a head into the maze, Harry and Amortia, then Krum and last but not least Fleur. Should be fun, eh?,"
Harry and I knew all too well what types of creatures Hagrid would be providing for a event like this, though it was to be unlikely to be any fun at all, we all nodded.
"Very well... If you haven't got any questions, shall we go bad up to the castle? It's a bit chilly," Bagman hurried alongside Harry and I as we worked out of the growing maze. I had a feeling he was going to offer help again but just then, Krum tapped on Harry's shoulder.
"Could I haff a vord?,"
"Yeah, alright then.. Can er, Amortia come?," Harry said awkwardly but slightly surprised.
"Vill you valk vith me?," Krum asked, Harry nodded and looked at me curiously. I shrugged and just followed behind waving off the slightly perturbed Bagman. "Don't vont to be over heard,"
"This is weird," I said shortly whispering to Harry. We stopped not to far from the Beauxbatons horses' paddock, Krum turned toward Harry.
"I vant to know," he said glowering at Harry completely ignoring my presence "vot is there between you and Hermy-own-ninny,"
"Nothing, we are just friends," Harry said with a hint of amazement in his voice. I figured with Krum, it would be something a bit more serious.
"Hermy-own-ninny talks about you a lot," Krum said looking at Harry suspiciously
"Yeah, but we are just friends," Harry said. It was unbelievable he was having a conversation like this with a international quidditch player, it was though- he 18 year old Krum- though of Harry as a rival.
"You haff never...,"
"No..," Harry replied very firmly. Krum looked slightly happier but then there was a rustle in the bushes and a man staggered out. For a moment, We didn't recognize him.
Until we got a closer look. It was Mr. Crouch. He was all scratched up and bloody, his clothes tore and ripped as if he's been traveling for days. His eyes were unfocused and he was whispering as though he were talking to somebody we couldn't see.
"Vosn't he a judge?," Krum asked looking at Crouch "Isn't he vith your ministry?," Harry and I nodded, we both hesitated for a moment but walked over to him.
"...And when you've done that, Weatherby, send a owl to Dumbledore confirming the number of students from Durmstrang who will be attending the tournament. Karkaroff has just sent a word that there will be twelve.....,"
"Mr. Crouch?," I asked slightly creeped out. "Are you alright?,"
"...And then send another owl to Madame Maxime because she might want the number of students she's bringing now Karkaroffs made a round dozen.... do that, Weatherby, will you? Will you? Will. . .,"
Mr. Crouch's eyes began bulging. He stood staring at the tree, muttering soundlessly at it. Then he staggered sideways and fell to his knees.
"Mr. Crouch?," Harry said loudly "Are you alright?," Crouch's eyes were rolling in his head. Harry and I looked around at Krum.
"Vot is wrong with him?,"
"No idea," Harry muttered "Listen, you'd better go get somebody-"
"Dumbledore!," Mr. Crouch gasped. He reached out and seized a handful of Harry's and my robes, dragging us closer, though his eyes were staring over our heads. "I... Need... See Dumbeldore,"
"Let go of us you bloody loon! And we'll get him!," I said smacking his hands off of our robes. Harry and I stood back up "Watch him! We are going I get help,"
"Thank you, Weatherby, and when you have done that, I would like a cup of tea. My wife and son will be arriving soon, we are attending a concert tonight with Mr. And Mrs. Fudge," Crouch was now talking fluently to a tree again, and seemed completely unaware he let go of us.
"We are going to get Dumbeldore now, watch him Krum or I swear," I hissed quietly
"Don't....leave.....me!," Crouch whispered his eyes bulging again "I...escaped...must warn, must tell...all my fault....see Dumbeldore...tell Dumbledore.... Harry Potter Amortia Black.... The dark lord....stronger..,"
