Chapter Eight

Standing in front of a large rock with three eggs and a huge nest was a large palish dragon with a short nose, pointy long almost rusty spikes along the back, leading to a tail covered with the same spikes but smaller and swung around dangerously. Feeling my stomach drop I stepped out getting it's attention.

"Look at me!!," I said waving my arms in the air, all of the cheering, the whistling, even the booing stopped as soon as I said it. "I want your egg! Will this be the easy way or the hard way?,"

"Why do you want my egg," It roared back, that's when things got weird. The dragon was talking back as if it were normal. What was I speaking? I'm speaking English right?

"The golden one," I whispered listening to my voice, it turned to a scratchy roar but somehow it sounded on the regions of Parseltongue. Everyone's eyes were set on me, like I was the angry Mother dragon protecting Her egg.

"Answer me! Why do you want my Golden egg!," It roared loudly stepping forward swinging her tail.

"I want it so I can live through this tournament! I'll return it once I figure everything out!," Speaking back very clearly the mother dragon seemed as if she was arguing with herself but then picked up the egg and set it in front of me carefully.

"You are the first of very few humans that spoke to me but wanted peace. I trust you," She bowed and walked back to her nest of eggs protectively. I decided to take it a step further and walk towards her.

"What is your name?," I asked stepping in front of her.

"Tabitha. And you Human?," She replied batting her eyelashes at me.

"Amortia. Amortia Black pleasure to meet you," I bow carefully taking the golden egg and nodded at her as the Dragon keepers took Tabitha away. It was still and quiet as applause's broke everywhere through the crowd, even some of the Slytherins were cheering as I got all 10's from the judges earning a perfect score. I walked back into the tent as Harry was leaving and he gave me an interested look. I turned around to walk away but was pulled into a bone crushing hug by Remus.

"Am' what in the name of Merlin were you thinking! What was that! What were you speaking?,"

"I don't know Remus. I just... Spoke you know? And she said she trusted me. I told her I was going to return the egg back to her once I finish this stupid tournament," I sighed lightly I felt a heat of tears coming to my eyes "I just want my dad," I collapsed into Remus's arms crying another flash of a camera went off as I buried my face in his neck.

"I know Am'.... I know. We'll see him I promise..," Remus said softly kneeling down wrapping his arms around me protectively. He was shaking his head, I could tell it was hard for him.

"I'm sorry Rem.. I didn't mean to go haywire," I stood up wiping my tears away just as Harry came in holding his egg with a large smile.

"Hello Professor Lupin," Harry said walking forward.

"Hello Harry. I see you're doing well. But just as I promised I need to talk to you both," As he narrowed his eyes we went into a corner away from the publicity. "Did you two put your names in the Goblet?,"

"No!! What kind of Blithering psycho would!?," I said looking him straight in the eyes.

"I don't know who did it but I will find out who," Harry promised clutching his egg.

"Remus I love you.. I'll see you soon but we need to go," I hugged him and ran from the tent not paying attention holding tightly onto my egg, I crashed into someone making my egg fly out of my hand and crash into the black lake.

"Watch where you're going! Do you want- Oh it's you," Snape snarled in disgust as my heart fluttered like I was falling down from a large height.

"Sorry Professor Snape I could see you from all of the black you're wearing," I said back. "It's 9 in the after noon do you want to be hit by a spell on accident?," I smirked at his wondering eyes I could tell what he was thinking; 'She's insane. Who does she think she's talking to?'

"Your egg has gone into the water," He replied turning around his cape billowing and walking away, standing up quickly I turned to the black lake and ran towards it...

"This is going to be cold.." I said to myself jumping in with a big splash.
