Materials:

Salt

Spoon

Piece of paper/cloth

Glass cup/Jar

 String/yarn

Hot water

Pencil long enough to lay over the jar

Procedure:

Pour salt in the jar with the water. Stir the salt until it has dissolved. Pour more salt and stir. Do this repeatedly until the salt no longer dissolves. Now take the string and tie it to the pencil. Put the string over top of your jar with the string in the salted water. Make sure the string does not touch the bottom of the jar. Now put the jar somewhere it will not be bothered. Cover the jar with the paper. After a few days, crystals will form on the string. The longer you keep the crystals in the salted water, the bigger they get. If crystals start to form in the sides of the jar, pour the liquid into another jar or cup without the crystals on the sides. Continue to hold the crystal in the liquid in the new cup or jar.
