Chris Blackwell

Flashback 5 years ago

"James, I can't take this shit no more!" My mom storms out the room with two duffel bags making her way downstairs. I stand in the middle of the hallway listening to another argument.

"Baby, I can't just leave! That's our money!" My dad walks out the room with a irritated look. My mom drops the bags and turns around.

"I don't need the fancy clothes, fancy house, an all this expensive shit! I need you to step down from being a drug lord and be an actual father and husband. Just get out the game James! You are constantly putting our family lives at risk to make this money. We don't need it!"

"Baby you knew when we got into a relationship that I was apart of this! You knew it! I can't leave now since I'm at the top! You said that you would be my ride or die and you have been for the last 30 years! What's different now?"

"We have a kid James! A freaking child who can't even walk outside without being possibly killed! I have to carry a gun with me and watch every angle! I hate guns and I hate this fearfulness that has taken over my life. I have grown up over these years. I don't need to be a "ride or die" anymore. I need to be a woman who stands by her husbands side. To get you OUT of the game, not encourage it. I'm done James and I already asked Chris who he would rather stay with and he said you. The divorce papers are on your night stand. I'm done!"

"No we are not! You talked to our son about this! He is a child and I can protect him! he hasn't gotten hurt yet has he? NO! so what's different?"

"Lil Rich child just got shot two days ago. Chris and Rich go to the same school James. Bless there family but what if it were both of them? what would you have done? you can't shoot up the damn school or try some ghetto shit out here! The game is over! we are parents and our job does not come between our only child!"

"You know what Ebony? leave! Just leave and bail like other women do. I really thought you could handle the life WE chose but I guess not. I will be signing those divorce papers and you will be seeing me in court because im coming for everything you got. You wouldn't be Ebony Blackwell without me! You are nothing without me and that last name!"

"James I don't want to be the all known Mrs. James Blackwell anymore! I am going to be Ebony Carter like I was before and your going after me because you just lost a good one? Get your priorities straight James! Your a grown ass man stuck in a teenage mindset! I got businesses around this world and shit! I don't need you and I am somebody with and without you! Don't try to play me with that bull! Unlike the rest of these females who depend on there husband, I had a plan for myself and I wasn't giving them up for yours! Something in the back of my head years ago told me to expand me and become somebody because you were going to F up eventually! I didn't believe it but I did it and now look where we stand! You had me and now you have lost me to the streets! The same streets that don't love you back and yet you give 150 percent to them! There is no fixing what we have anymore. I tried, you didn't. We failed and I honestly do not believe you care. As long as the streets rep you and the money is tight, who needs me, right? Next time you are in your office and you finish a convo with somebody, actually hang up the phone. That's exactly what I heard when you were with the homies. Goodbye James motherfucking Blackwell."

Flashback over

"She left us because she couldn't handle this life. I see what my dad means and I need a woman who is capable of handling the life I live. To be my ROD lady. My mom showed me that she wasn't."

"You don't get it do you?"

"What is there to get?! She couldn't handle the life that my dad chose. Simple as that Tiana."

"Your mom wasn't thinking about some stupid promise she made in their teenage years Chris. She was thinking about your safety. Now, I don't know the streets so I cant speak on them and I don't know the life you live. But I can say that your mom was a ride or die if she was more worried about your fathers life than her own and-" I hold up my hand shaking my head.

"I didn't come over here for no damn lecture Tiana. I just needed to vent and you trying to play the therapist role. Chill with all of that. I just-" My phone starts ringing so I hold up my finger. I get it out and see an unknown number. I answer it and wait for somebody to speak. Never say something first because if somebody looking for you, they know its you.

"CHRISSSSS! CHRISSS PLEASE HELP ME!! CHRISS PLEASEE HELP ME!" my eyes widen as I hear Cecilia ear piercing screams on the other end. I hear a shot go off and her heavy breathing. I wait until someone speaks.

"Before this day is over, bring your dad, 50 thousand and yourself or Cecilia here gets a cut every thirty minutes you don't come." The line clicks and I just look at my phone.

"Chris you okay? Look like you seen a ghost." I shake my head and laugh. This must be some stunt that Cecilia is pulling since I threw her out. Bitch is a nobody.

"It was nothing. Cecilia playing games. I'm about to go so text me later or something." I get up not waiting on an answer and walk out. I'm still mad over her trying to be Dr. Phil and shit in there and then Cecilia trying to play games. I don't have the time.

Chris climbs into his car shaking his head. Was this what his life was going to consist of? He was making decisions at such a young age and didn't even know it. Chris put his car in gear and sped off. Tiana sat in the house sighing. She understood he was mad but she was only trying to give friendly advice. What really hurt her feelings was the fact that Chris never once asked how she was doing. If she was okay since he never contacted her. She got up and went to her room. She went up the stairs and took it stair by stair. But today was different.

She stopped on one stair as a pain shot through her stomach and her palms became sweaty. She looked toward the top of the stairs and it seemed as if they were swaying. Her breathing became short as she stumble back down two more stairs. As her foot slipped from another, she also lost her grip on the railing and she flew back, falling one by one. As her head hit the floor, Tiana eyes slowly closed and even though she could barely hold on, she realized that there was no one to help her during this moment. Tiana then just let go.

Letting go of everything.

Chris pulled up to a stop light and felt around for his house key. Don't know why he kept it separate it he just did. He groaned knowing where e most likely left it.

Tiana's house.

He had no where to be so he just turned around when the light turned green. He pulled up and got out. He didn't want to really be here that long.

In.

Out.

Done.

No need to stay any longer. He knocks on the door and waits.

No answer.

He knocks again thinking maybe she didn't here him. No answer again. He knocks two more times and the irritation is rising. If she was mad by how the conversation ended, then this was childish. Chris banged on the door with more aggression.

"Tiana man! I need you to open this door forreal." Chris turned the door knob and felt it open. He looked at it suspiciously. He crept in and saw her on the floor layed out. He ran over and didn't know what to do. He put his ear to her mouth and only heard short breathing.

Chris pulls out his phone and dials 911. All he is thinking about is her being okay. How and why did this happen?

So I know this chapter isn't the best after a long wait but I'm starting school ad I'm a freshman with AP and honors classes. Wattpad is not my priority right about now. The chapter is in this POV again because its tiring to do each POV and try to get all the details in.

I am done with goals for now so I will update when I want to.

Love ya!
