Dylan's entire summer was spent with Connor and Allison.

He didn't know why they were willing to put up with him everyday, but they did it. And they didn't complain. Dylan was beyond appreciative of that. He knew Connor felt like it was his duty to keep Dylan from thinking of Kara, and he was doing a damn good job of it.

Currently, Dylan was sitting in the backseat of Connor's car while they drove to a Jays game. Connor had one hand on the steering wheel and one on the clutch with Allison sitting beside him. She smacked his chest. He jumped when she did that. He lifted his sunglasses from his face and looked at her with wide eyes. She shook her head at him. Dylan was laughing in the backseat.

"What was that for?" Connor asked.

"You're nominated for the Calder and didn't even tell me?" She hissed.

He shrugged. "I didn't think it was a big deal."

Dylan rolled his eyes. Connor was always too humble. Everyone in the world knew Connor was going to win the Calder. And Dylan was gonna win it his rookie year.

Dylan didn't know much about what was going on in his head or with his emotions at the moment, but he knew he was talented. He knew he was a good hockey player. People had told him he was better than Ryan and Matty, and not to toot his own horn, but he had managed to keep up with Connor while building his own name at the same time.

Dylan tuned back in shortly after that.

"Now, onto a major problem we have." Allison said.

"Which is..." Connor asked as he absentmindedly tangled his fingers with hers.

"Kara's birthday party." She exhaled.

"I'm not going." Dylan stated.

"Dyl," Allison turned and frowned at him.

"Nope." He crossed his arms, shaking his head.

She sighed. "Alright." She turned back to face forward.

"I think you should go." Connor said to Dylan.

"Why?" Dylan's brows furrowed.

"You love her, even if she has hurt you, and you've been in each other's lives for years. It's her nineteenth, Stromer." Connor told him.

"I don't care." Dylan snorted.

"Yes you do." Connor laughed.

So maybe Connor was right, but Dylan didn't want to go. He didn't want to do anything nice for Kara, She could take her party and shove it up her ass. He really did hate her as a person.

The game was fun, even if it was a Allison and Connor love fest. They took a nice picture which Alli posted on Insta. He loved hanging out with them, truthfully.

The game ended and they were off to Real Sports. Dylan and Connor were discussing the game when Allison let out a burst of dry laughter. Something was going on.

"Hey," Connor tapped her arm. She looked at him. "You alright?"

Alli cleared her throat. "'I don't even know whose side you're on anymore. You spend all your time with Dylan, it's like I'm nothing to you. Just like I'm nothing to him because he's an idiot and thinks that I'm in love with Mitch and I'm following him to school like I'm you or something.'" She read Kara's messages.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Connor asked in confusion. "Like you? How?"

"That's what I just said and she replied, 'are you honestly telling me you didn't apply to Alberta knowing there was a possibility of Connor going there?'" Allison spat.
