The second period was better. Pittsburgh scored another one, but Leon managed to get the Oilers on the board. The period was a bloodbath. There was penalties upon penalties. Both sides were lucky they made it out of the period alive.
The girls were all wasted and cheering for everything with TJ during the second. They made the jumbotron, and being girls, they thought it was the kiss cam. Allison grabbed Kennedy and smashed their mouths together. The crowd laughed and cheered for them, and Dylan actually thought it was really hot. The two girls laughed together then sat back down and talked non stop like they were old friends.
The third came and it was dominated by the Oilers. Connor scored two minutes in and the group cheered their hearts out. He scored again twelve minutes later and Allison was losing her mind. She kept screaming about wanting him to get a hat trick against his idol.
Crosby scored a goal to tie the game up. Dylan was on the edge of his seat. He was ignoring all his drunk friends because he wanted this for Connor. He wanted him to get the win and the hatty against Crosby.
Everyone was sure the game would be going to overtime. But Dylan didn't think so. Dylan knew Connor's mindset on that ice better than anyone, and the way he was playing, Dylan could feel the hat trick coming. He knew Connor way too well.
Connor stole the puck from Lovejoy and broke down the ice. He deked away and faked blocker before he poked it in under Murray's pad. The horn went for the end of the period, hats showered the ice, and then the goal was waved off. Edmonton challenged it of course
After minutes of review, it was deemed a good goal and Connor was given his hat trick. Allison ran down to the ice afterwards, knowing Connor would get first star of the game. Dylan wrapped an arm around Kennedy and pulled her into his side.
"Fucking Davo." He chuckled, getting a smile from her.
Connor was announced as first star and he skated on the ice. He waved to everyone before he skated over to Allison. She was snapping pictures like crazy. He pretended to give his stick to her then passed into to a little boy to the right of her. She just smiled at him.
They waited downstairs for Connor, again, and a bunch of other family and friends were down there too. Dylan and Phoebe tried to herd the drunkies to a secluded area so they wouldn't be dead center while being obnoxious, but Kennedy and Veronica fought it and went and stood dead center. TJ followed and dragged Alli over with him.
"I can't wait to give my little boyfriend a kiss." Phoebe cooed, holding her face.
"Me too." Dylan teased, nudging Allison.
She rolled her eyes at him. Her and Kennedy started to take selfies while they waited... Girls.
Taylor came out and walked over to Veronica, giving her a kiss. He kept an arm around her as he talked to the guys about what they were doing tonight and if they wanted to come out with the team. All said yes, of course.
Ryan, Leon, and Connor all came out together. They talked with some of the families, even Taylor went over and joined them. Ryan broke free first and came over smiling at Phoebe. She gave him a kiss. Leon came over next and started talking with the guys.
Connor came over and was laughing at all his drunk friends. He didn't even go stand with Allison, just between Alex and TJ. They were all talking together anyways. Dylan went for the kiss he had teased Alli about.
"Stromer, not in front of Al." Connor taunted.
They both laughed and looked to her. Her eyes were wide as she stared off. Dylan furrowed his brows and looked at his girlfriend next to her. Kennedy gave Alli a questioning look then looked up at him.
"Al, you alright?" Connor asked, slightly concerned.
"Too many brewskis?" Alex smirked.
Connor walked across the circle to her, rubbing her upper arms. She just looked around him. Everyone turned to where her eyes were locked.
Sidney Crosby was heading directly towards them.
He gave them a small smile as he approached. Allison was in a daze, and they all got why now.
"I just wanted to come over and personally congratulate you. That was a hell of a performance." Sid said, shaking Connor's hand.
"Wow, uh, thank you. I don't even have words." Connor chuckled, being the nerd he was.
"What he wants to say, is that he'll show you up anyday." Dylan piped in.
Everyone laughed, even Sidney. He started to nod.
"And you'll start next season, right?" Sid asked Dylan.
"Wait, you know who I am?" Dylan gasped.
Sid laughed. "Of course, the Yotes got a good pick."
"Thank you, wow." Dylan said wide eyed, shaking his hand.
"I don't mean to interrupt, but could I please get a picture?" Allison squeaked from behind Connor.
He stepped out of her way. "Sorry, my girlfriend is a really big fan of yours. Bigger fan of you than me."
She nodded with a pout. Sid agreed to a photo. Allison stood beside him, beaming as he covered her Oilers logo with his hand. They took another where she was squeezing him with both of her arms wrapped around him and her eyes shut.
"There's still time for us to get married. I'm almost twenty." She whispered.
He laughed at that and thanked them all before he walked off. Dylan watched as Kennedy squealed with the girls. All the guys were praising Connor for just being praised by Sidney Crosby. Connor was still in awe.
"And you didn't even care that your girlfriend asked him to marry her." Alex clapped Connor's shoulder.
"Wait, yeah!" Connor growled. "Al, what the fuck!"
She turned to him with wide eyes. "Yes, dear?"
"You wanna marry Crosby, huh?" Connor hissed.
"Just until he's old, then I'm all yours." She waved him off.
"You're a jerk!" He stated.
She shrugged and went back to talking with the girls.
Dylan caught Kennedy gazing over at him and he smiled. She smiled back.
It was good to be good.
The next day, the Oilers had left and the Otters were back home, ready to play the Bulldogs. Alli and her friends came down to catch the game before they would head home for the holidays. They were staying at a motel for the night.
Dylan was beyond excited to see his family. Even if Ryan wouldn't be around, he still got to see everyone else. And he had Kennedy with him.
After his skate, he came home to Kennedy sitting in his room with the other three girls. He gave her a kiss and went to shower. He came back out to her all alone, getting ready for the dinner his mom had planned.
They were going to pick up Matt from his hotel and then meet Dylan and Kennedy at the same restaurant they always went to. Dylan hadn't seen Matt in a while, he wondered if his weight had finally caught up to his height. The kid was big but he couldn't make a good hit if his life depended on it.
"Are you nervous?" He teased Kennedy, kissing her head as he passed her.
"No, I love your family." She giggled. "Are you nervous?"
"I'm never nervous to see my family. They have to love me no matter what." He joked as he sniffed something in his drawer to check if it was clean.
Kennedy sighed. "Yeah, they have to, but I don't."
He fake laughed as he slid a sweater on.
They both finished getting ready. Kennedy looked breathtaking. She was wearing a dark red sweater dress with black nylons and cute black heels. Dylan's sweater was of similar colour and he was wearing good ol' khakis. He looked just as good as she did.
