Nico's Return

Fuck You

Reyna's POV

I stand as soon as I hear that voice. I turn to face the man standing behind me. I walk up to him, closely inspecting him, I poke him a few times and he smiles a little. The smile quickly disappears when I hold a dagger to his throat, demanding to know what he is. 

"It's me Reyna, I swear. Please, just let me explain," he pleads. 

I lower the knife but keep it in hand, I still don't trust him.

"How?" I whisper.

"I-I don't know. I was dead, I know it, I saw Bianca and my mom and so many other people but the suddenly, I woke up in the middle of the forest. I don't know what happened," he tries to explain, scratching the back of his neck.

"Fuck you," I mumble, pulling him into a hug. 

He hugs me back quickly and we stand there for a while until I pull away and look at him questioningly, "How are we going to tell people?" I ask.

He smirks, "It's going to be great."

We start walking to camp and I stop him quickly, "Hey Nico?"

"Yeah?"

"Thanks for coming back."

He smiles warmly in return and we continue the trek back to camp.

Nico's POV 

When I walked back into the dining pavilion at camp, everybody stopped. When I greet them and then continue to chat with Reyna, food fell out of their mouths. I understand, I am supposed to be dead. It's been almost 5 minutes and no one has moved, so I walk over to my table, Reyna walking next to me. We sit, get some food, and start eating. When we finish, people are just starting to mumble and move. Reyna and I stand up and walk to find Addy in the crowd.

"Addy?" Reyna shouts.

I hear shuffling and then see a not-so-small-anymore little girl come over to her. When she sees me, her eyes light up. 

"Daddy?" she asks excitedly.

I nod and kneel down in front of her, "Yeah. Hey kiddo."

"Miss Reyna you lied, you said that he wasn't coming back but he is here right now," she says, pointing a finger accusingly at Reyna. 

"Well Add-asaur, I didn't know that he would," she tells her.

Addy nods and grans both of our hands and pulls us away from the dining pavilion. She is telling me nearly everything that happened to her since I was gone. Everything from all the times she went swimming to when she stabbed a gorgon. 

"Wow Addy, that is impressive," I say as we reach our cabin door.

When I walk in I see Hazel sitting in the bed with red eyes and tears stains. She looks at me and freezes, just staring. 

"That is so cruel, who are you? What are you?" Hazel demands.

"Hazel, it's Nico," I say, walking toward her.

"Liar!" she screams, backing up on the bed.

"Hazel, it really is him," Reyna reassures.

Hazel looks to her, then at me, then Addy. This repeats for a while before she launches herself off the bed and at me. I think she is going to hug me until she starts attacking me.

"Nico you absolute dick! What the hell is wrong with you? Did you actually die or were you just hiding again?" She shouts, rage dancing in her eyes.

"Yeah, I died," I say, recounting everything that happened. She stops attacking me and looks at me, her confusion clear. 

"So how are you here now?" she asks.

"No clue," I say. 

Well, that's a lie. I know exactly how I am here. I want to say something, but I can't, not just yet anyways. I have work to do, to earn my life. I wish they would stop being so nice, it is going to make everything so much harder.
