Chapter Six: Hope

Daryl's POV-
I woke up from a good nights sleep best sleep in a while. I felt pressure on my chest I looked down to see Ava still asleep on me. Last night wasn't hard to remember. Shane got what he deserved no women deserved to be treated like that.

I felt her shift as I was lost in thought, she shifted off of my chest. She was asleep now on her side. I got off of the bed and stood up. She looked peaceful I didn't know her really at all and she didn't know me.

But she was different then anybody else I knew. She is kinda like me in a way. She has a very dark past and doesn't let anybody in. She had a bruise on her arm where Shane grabbed her last night. Just thinking about it my temper flare back up. I shook the thought out of my head and got dressed.

- Ava's POV-
I woke up to an empty bed Daryl was probably already downstairs eating. I got up and slipped on my pants then I felt the air kick off I stood up on the bed to see if I could feel it coming out but nothing. I opened the door to see if anyone else was confused but nobody was to be seen. I quickly took off Daryl's shirt and threw a tank top on and my black leather jacket with my combat boots.

I grabbed my bag and Daryl's and raced to find the others. I couldn't help but start to worry. I made it to the main floor and saw that nobody was eating the table was still a mess. I decided to keep walking down the hall maybe I would find Jenner or at least some type of life form.

I could see the lab door in front of me I smiled to myself when I heard their voices. They didn't leave. The closer I was getting to the door the faster I notice it was shutting. I threw our bags down and sprinted towards the door but I was too late it was sealed shut. I looked in to see everyone freaking out.

Glenn came to the door I couldn't hear a thing he was screaming in the glass door all I could hear was the thuds from his fist hitting the glass. I couldn't loose this group. Not like this. I tried everything to open the door but nothing was working. Shane motioned for me to move away from the door I did as told and watched as he tried breaking the glass as he shot it but failed.

This can't be how we die. This can't be the end not when we were so close to being happy going back to somewhat normal life. I haven't even found Michael.

I leaned my back against the wall near the door I didn't want to give up but there was nothing I could do. I watched as T- Dog and Glenn frantically threw heavy things at the door then Daryl attacking Jenner. I could tell he was scared and pissed. I let out a sigh and closed my eyes as I held on to my necklace around my neck.

That was then I heard a loud noise I opened my eyes to see the doors opened. I quickly stood up and watch as the group ran out of the doors. I was relieved we were going to make it.

"Let's go!" Daryl yelled grabbing my arm and our bags I looked behind us and saw Jenner, Jacque, Andrea, and Dale standing there. I was horrified. "Daryl what's going on? Why are they not following?" We caught up with the others as they were trying to break more glass. "They think it's better this way." I squinted my eyes. "What way Daryl?" I heard him let out a sigh.

"Jenner said once the building generators ran out the buidin' would shut down then blow up." I could tell my eyes grew wide. I couldn't loose Dale. "No we need to get Dale." I tried to run back the way we came but Daryl pushed me back. "The hell you are! I ain't loosin' no more damn people!"

"EVERYONE GET DOWN!" I heard Rick yell grabbing my attention me and Daryl darted behind a table as everyone took cover. I saw Rick throw a grenade and run away. "OH SHIT!" He yelled before I heard the explosion and shattered glass go flying.

Daryl had thrown his body on top of mine I laid on the ground looking at him out faces inches apart. He helped me up as we made our way out. We ran through the opening and straight for our vehicles. Me and Daryl made it to the truck he pushed me inside but it was too late. The CDC went up in flames I felt my body being pushed down by the forced of the explosion. I finally looked up and saw that Daryl didn't make it all the way in the truck I quickly got out and helped him in the truck. I was about to get back in then I looked back at the once standing building and saw Andrea and Dale making their way to the RV.

I couldn't help but run over to them both and smother them in a hug. They chose life over death. They had hope. "I thought I lost you." I whispered into Dales neck. He was such an amazing man that I grew very fond of. "You haven't yet." He said hugging me and rubbing my back. "Let's leave!" I said pulling away and running back to the truck. Daryl still looked shocked from what just happened.

"Hey. You okay?" I looked at him as I placed my hand on top of his. I felt him jump a little and look at me then at my hand. "Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?" He snatched his hand away from mine and started the truck. I let out a sigh and leaned back in the seat.

The RV started to move which was cue for everyone to follow. It was time to find another place to call home.
