Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. "I said who the fuck are you?" The voice growled again and my breathing quickened along with my heart thudding in my chest.
"M-my name is Skylar Cross, I just heard the howling and gunshots. The wolves sounded in incredible pain, are they alright?" My voice was quiet and I was afraid the man hadn't heard me. Maybe trying to play dumb will allow me a few more minutes of life. Maybe my hunters will find me and we can take down this guy, and then maybe-
"Alright? Alright! Sixteen of my pack members are dead because of fucking hunters! Those filthy hybrids don't deserve to live let alone cross onto my territory! We hadn't done anything to them in the past few years, I can't believe they would just pull shit like this! When I find their leader, I'm going to rip them apart, making sure they suffer." The dead emotion of his raw voice made me shrink back further into myself A dull ache pounded in my head and I let out a small moan. My hands flew to my head and I began to rub my temples, trying to soothe the ache away. It was begging to turn into a sharp stabbing pain that clustered behind my eyes, making my vision blurry.
"You're one of them aren't you? You reek of hunter blood. You disgusting hybrid, why are you on my territory? Why attack!?" The bite in his voice felt like a physical push against me, and I staggered back a step. I refused to meet his eyes, his tone and just physical presence intimidating me.
"You're pathetic, just look at you. You ran from your pack, and let them die. I might just let you live long enough to drag you back to the clearing and just let you look at the bodies strewn about. You traitor, running while they die."
The pain in my head seemed to disappear instantly as anger began bubbling inside of me. Traitor? Traitor! I am no traitor to my pack. I will hunt down every single one of you pathetic wolves and make sure you suffer as my pack has suffered.
I heard him inhale deeply, almost as if he was a little kid at a bakery, his breath deep, and a growl seemed to elevate from his broad chest. As the seconds passed, the greater my rage brewed. He knows nothing of sacrifice and dedication to anything. He might just be a lowly wolf within his pack, he means nothing.
"Look at me." The annoyance in his voice was evident - wolves thrived off of their superiority from one another, and not making eye contact and establishing dominance should be maddening for him. Tough crap dude, I'm not letting you even get a glance. You are nothing to me.
"Look at me." The annoyance was still heavy, but there were tones beneath his voice that suggested something else. Maybe a pleading factor? What is going on with this guy? "You puny little hunter, I said look at me! You're a freak of nature! Even your wolf didn't want you, that's why you can't even shift! You're a disappointment!" The anger in his voice replaced all annoyance and pleading that he could have done. The rage within my body began to overflow, and I was nearly shaking.
"I said Look. At. Me. Now."
Before either one of knew what had happened, I flung my body at him, tackling him and throwing us both to the ground. I planted my knee on his chest and began throwing punches left and right, just like I had done countless times in hand-to-hand combat trials with the stages of my training. When my fist connected with his jaw, a low, earthly, and animalistic growl erupted from his chest, and before I knew it, I was flying through the air. I felt weightless for a few moments, but my body quickly slammed onto the ground, my shoulder and back screaming out in pain as it seized up my entire being.
Oh my god...I'm paralyzed.
I flung my legs around despite the pain and let out a pain-filled sigh. I can still move all my body parts, but the pain is almost suffocating, my breathing labored and coming hard. My eyes are spinning and my vision blurry. I could tell he was standing over me, his stature large and broad. He began to speak, but the pain in my head blurred all of his words.
