The ride was long, and just the thought of being seating on Axel's lap was humiliating, let alone having Jackson fuming beside us. He had put up a mental wall so I couldn't mind link with him. I could force my way through, my Alpha title giving me that advantage, but I figured he needed his space.

We crossed into their territory a few moments ago, and slowly, I realized just how large their pack was. Dozens of houses were strewn about the land, and these were just the front few from the side entrance we had come through. It put my pack to shame.

Tanner pulled the SUV up to a small home, and hopped out, taking his mate in his arms again, and entered the house without a word.

Axel shifted me off his lap, his hand low on my hip, before opening the door and motioning for me to get out. I slid off the leather seat and took in just how massive this place was. Their large pack house towered above the others and wolves were scattered everywhere.

"Follow me." Axel had my duffel bag in his hand and turned toward the pack house. I have a short glance at Jackson who just shrugged. We followed after the Alpha, gaining a multitude of stares from the unfamiliar wolves.

We walked into a surprisingly empty pack house, the silence almost deafening. "Where is everyone?" I said, barely above a whisper.

"I ordered them to clear the house, we have business to discuss do we not? But first, I'll show you to your rooms." He led us to a staircase which leads to a hallway full of bedrooms I presumed. We stopped at one directly at the top of the stairs, Axel pointing to it and saying, "this is yours, pup," Jackson gave a small nod before entering his room, but not before sending a glare at Axel's turned back.

I followed Axel down the remainder of the hallway until we stopped at the end. "This is yours." I opened the door and took in the room. It was plain and cleared of any personal belongings. There was a large king bed on the opposite wall, the gray coloring and white trim giving it a modern but homey look. It was clearly a guest room, the bed looking like it had never been slept in before. I set my bag down on the bed before turning back to Axel.

"And where is your room?" My question was innocent, but when he raised his eyebrow, I knew his mind had gone elsewhere. "I meant if I would ever need to find you."  A deep chuckle rumbled in his chest as he took a step toward me. I felt my cheeks begin to burn, thinking of our previous encounter and how we had ridden over the entire way here. He continued toward me until we were nearly chest to chest, my head back to even stay eye to eye with him.

"My room," his voice was deep and it sent questionable thoughts through my mind, "is right across the hall from you." He pulled back from our proximity and walked to the door. "I'll call my gamma, my beta is busy, and get your pup. We can begin discussing the matters at hand in five. My office is downstairs, end of the hall to the right." With that he turned and left the room, leaving me once again embarrassed and flustered.

"Sky? You alright?" Jackson stood in the doorway, his presence not nearly as large or intimidating as Axels.

"Yes, um- yeah, I'm perfectly fine. Alpha Axel wants us to meet him in his office downstairs to begin whatever it is we're here for." I brushed last Jax quickly, praying he wouldn't say anything about how flustered I was. We walked down to what I presumed to be Axel's office, and I knocked softly on the large door.

"Enter." His deep voice filled the room, and Jackson and I went in and sat down at the chairs. Another wolf, his beta, was leaned against the wall to our left, his eyes critical as he took me in. I tried to sit up a little straighter as he did.

"Why don't you start by telling me why in the fuck you lead an attack against my back just a few days ago? You do realize I could declare war against you?" Axel's time was ice, all joking and flirting aside as he stared at me with dead, unforgiving eyes.
