Hello again guys! I thought some much-needed updates are deserved, so please comment, vote, and tell me what you think of the story!
The entire meeting room had followed me out, Jackson close by my side. My pack mates had begun to filter out of their houses, their curiosity overlooking their safety. I pushed through the small crowd of people that had gathered, my anger and presence making them part into a pathway straight to our intruders, straight to Him. Tanner stood beside him, and he gave no sign of recognition as he looked upon me.
The Alpha's face was stoic, his icy blue eyes gazing throughout pack but quickly finding me. I saw them darken just a shade, and I knew his wolf was straining for control in my presence. I was lucky I didn't have a wolf to distract me, it took way too much just to deal with myself let alone another person in my head.
"So glad you could make Alpha, I was afraid my message wasn't direct enough." The mockery tone dripped from his words as he addressed me, and it only fueled my anger toward him.
"Alpha of the Silver Blood pack, you and your convoy have been found trespassing, an even punishable by death, but yet you walked right along through our clearly marked border. Why?" I stepped forward, trying to make my presence known that in this situation, we weren't mates, we were enemies.
He crossed his arms over his broad chest, flexing slightly as he did so. He ran his tongue over his lips to moisten them, and my eyes betrayed me as I looked. A small smirk grew on his face as he noticed where my eyes had gone and happened to linger. "In this pack is something that belongs to me, and I'm here to take it back, a trade if you will. I will give you all five of your hunters back, in exchange for my wolf-"
"Done." I cut him off and looked toward Patrick to get the wolf. He nodded quickly and ran off to the secluded house where we kept prisoners. I turned back to Him only to find him smirking once again.
"I wasn't finished, hunter. There is also something else that I would like to take back with me."
I took a deep breath in, trying to control my anger, but failing poorly to do so. "You cross my borders, invade my territory, begin to make demands for me to make, and then have the audacity to begin to make more? You can't be fucking serious."
"Oh, I very much am. And you're going to listen very, very carefully, Skylar, or your very good friends here aren't going to live much longer." As soon as his words rose into the air, the wolves behind him were poised, claws at the necks of my pack mates. I could hear cries of surprise and anger at the action.
His smug look made my blood boil as I looked at him with nothing but hatred within me. His eyes drifted off to the side, and I spared a glance to see Patrick, a woman's unconscious body draped in his arms. The Alpha let out a throaty growl as he took in her state, but I knew Patrick would never harm a defenseless woman. I had seen that man rip the heart right out of a werewolf, but never, in my entire existence, had I ever seen him raise his voice at a female.
Patrick, what did you do to her?
She charged at me. She refused to shift to her human form, so I had to sedate her. Nothing too strong, one of the serums that humans use on their own so she should wake up soon. I had one of the guards, female, dress her in what we had available.
I gave my Gamma a curt nod before turning back to Him. "Calm your wolf, Alpha. My Gamma means no harm. Your she-wolf had refused to shift back and attacked him. Another offense you wolves had posted today. He sedated her with human serum, she'll be awake before you even get back halfway to your territory."
