After a brief amount of time spent bathing under the continuous stream of hot water, I pelted downstairs like thunder. Shit, shit, shit! I'm running late! Panic set in as I sprinted out of the house, my breath hitching as I got close to the academy. The fresh morning air filled my lungs as I ran, my bag bouncing against my back with each eager step.
"Shit!" I grumbled under my breath, checking my phone's clock for the hundredth time.
"Oi, slow down, you're annoying me," came a groan from behind me.
I grounded to a halt, spinning around. "Excuse me?" I shot back, irritation bubbling up until I turned around and met Aomine's intense gaze. His deep blue eyes locked onto mine, sending an involuntary shiver down my spine.
"You heard me," he yawned, his piercing eyes not backing down. He stood there lazily, hands shoved in his pockets, looking like he didn't have a care in the world.
Neither of us said anything else; we were both too stubborn for that. He let out a small "tche," his brow furrowing as he tensed up. The scowl he wore was nothing new, but his annoyed expression still caused chills to travel down my spine when it settled over his face.
He was so infuriating, but there was something about him... I swallowed dryly, forcing myself to stop staring at him, and focused on walking past him to go to school. The scent of his cologne wafted past me as I moved, a subtle mix of citrus and spice.
Sighing, reality hit me again – I was running out of time! I dashed past his tall figure without another word, my heart racing from both exertion and our brief encounter.
"Why are you people so hyper all the time?" He grumbled after me, his voice getting deeper with annoyance.
"Jerk," I whispered to myself, rolling my eyes. Thankfully, he didn't hear me.
I burst into the classroom just in time, the bell ringing as I crossed the threshold. That was way too close for comfort – second day and already late? No thanks!
I collapsed into my seat, trying to settle my racing heart and regain my breath. Just as I was starting to relax, a familiar pink head sprung through the door with her usual cheerful vibe.
"Oh!" she exclaimed when she noticed me. "Hey, Momoi!" I smiled and stood up to give her a quick hug, her floral perfume surrounding me.
"I didn't expect to be in class with you!" she said, clearly surprised.
"Me neither!" I chuckled, shaking my head at the randomness of it all. Just then, another familiar figure stumbled into the room, seemingly half-asleep.
Great. Now I'm stuck sharing classes with this annoyingly loafing, tall, dark, and, I suppose- it finally hit me just how good-looking he was... even if he was stoic most of the time. Aomine's tanned skin and sculpted features were hard to ignore, especially up close.
A blush crept onto my cheeks as Momoi's voice pulled me back to reality. "[Y/n]? Earth to [y/n]!" She shook me out of my daydreaming, her pink eyes glowing with amusement.
"Huh? Sorry, just really tired today," I replied with an awkward chuckle, hoping she hadn't noticed me staring at Aomine.
"Eh~ you're hopeless [y/n]. It's only your second day; don't get yourself into trouble," she teased as she started jotting down notes.
"And by the way," she added with a mischievous tone from behind me, "you might have to take Aomine to practice later." She let out a triumphant sound that made me scream inside.
"No way! It's only my second day! Spare me!" I shot back, receiving a giggle from Momoi that felt almost sadistic.
I was startled when I saw Aomine sitting right in front of me. Seriously? A whole classroom full of empty seats, and he picks the one right in front of me? The broad expanse of his back dominated my vision, his navy hair just within reach.
With a heavy sigh, I set my head on my arms as the teacher walked in and began his lecture. My concentration lapsed given that Aomine was snoring like there was no tomorrow, the soft sound oddly soothing in the calm classroom.
For a fleeting moment, I couldn't help but notice how peaceful he looked while sleeping – so different from his usual tense self. His face was relaxed, and long eyelashes curled against his cheeks.
Who's the idiot now? Swooning over someone I barely know? I chuckled at myself. Nah, he's still just some stranger; attractive looks don't matter if you're rude!
Ah well...
The bell rang abruptly, jolting everyone into action as they rushed for the door like it was Black Friday or something. The scratching of chairs and lively chatter filled the air.
I peeked at Aomine's sleeping shape and considered waking him up. My hand hovered over his shoulder, hesitating.
What am I even thinking? This is so dumb...
