I awoke to the low volume of a TV and a slight murmur to my right-hand side. Peering my eyes over, there lay Aomime in a seemingly deep sleep, that familiar drool that made me elevate my hand to my mouth to refrain from chuckling, that wouldn't be the first time.
But, it was the first time in a long time that I'd felt content in another's company other than my grandmothers.
Tilting my head back and withdrawing a shaky exhale, as much as I dislike to admit it, Aomine was right last night. How could she pass peacefully if I was giving her a reason not to by being miserable?
I couldn't help but feel selfish in so many ways, having felt like I'd forced Aomine to postpone his game with kaijo, and then having the nerve to be upset when that isn't what anybody wanted.
It may just be too late to say I'm sorry, but it's not too late to say, "Thank you, Aomine."
"Hm?" His rich pools of blue slowly widen and narrow towards my own.
"Wouldn't you have done the same had it been me?" He queries, almost as if he knew the answer, his eyes began closing mid sentence.
"In a heartbeat." I wore a slight smile as he spoke once again. "I'll hold you to that, then." I smiled towards his closed eyes as he altered his position, his hands elevated to comfortably hold his head for support, his blue spheres finally stayed wide agape upon opening them. He intently bored holes into me, it looked as though he was in deep thought.
"Are you...okay..now?" A hesitant voice breaks the pause of silence, looking towards him with a slight cock of my head. "Sorry, stupid question. Never mind."
"You're here, so yeah. I'm as okay as I can be."
At least he's still the same old idiot, asking the same stupid questions.
