"Don't hate me, it was last minute."
"I don't hate you," she smiled, staring at the toddler in his arms, "she's adorable."
Zayn set two year old Brooklyn down on the floor and she stayed put, looking up at him with a toothy grin.
"She's my goddaughter," he explained, leaning against the counter and watching Brooklyn walk around. His dogs, Rhino and Harley walked behind her, occasionally sniffing at her. "Guys, stop, you know her."
"Goddaughter," Chiara repeated with a smile, "that's adorable."
"Yeah?" his hands reached her stomach and pulled her closer. He kissed her nose, something she hummed at.
"Mhm," she giggled, her lips puckering at him, "and she's cute, so. Double cuteness my heart can't take."
Zayn grinned, licking his lip. "Her mum is coming back in a few hours. Hope you don't mind?"
"I don't, at all," she kissed him again, "I would just really like some food."
"Oh. Yeah, I made you something," he pulled away and went to the oven, opening it and glancing back at her, "samosas. My mum's recipe."
"Oh my goodness," she exclaimed, "those look so good, Zayn."
"Yeah? I had already ate some, so you can have the rest."
"Wow," she gushed, "can you take them out for me?"
"Sure thing," he smiled, using kitchen gloves to pull the pan out, "it's chicken, because, ya know, I don't eat pig. And beef..." he shook his head, "rather just have chicken. And I made chutney."
"What's that?"
"It's a condiment. S'really good."
"Never had that before," she looked around the kitchen and spotted Brooklyn reaching for a banana. Chiara took a banana and peeled it just a little so Brooklyn could get the rest.
"Tanks," she lisped, watching Chi's every move. Zayn almost died on the spot. "Hi."
"Hi," Chi's mom voice was activated, and soon, they got into a conversation -- more of a yes and no type thing -- while Zayn set a plate of samosas and the small bowl chutney in front of her. "Thanks."
"No problem," he sat beside her and picked Brooklyn up. Chi was busy eating but could most likely feel the toddler petting her head.
"Zayn this stuff is really good," she took a spoon and ate the chutney like soup.
"Babe, that's not how--" Zayn laughed at her face, "never mind, I'm glad you like it."
"I do," she smiled at Brooklyn, her face lighting up when she smiled back.
"Pitty hair," she pat her some more then touched Zayn's head, "pitty Zayn."
"Thanks bug," he kissed the side of her face and she giggled, squirming away and going to Chi for shelter.
"Help, help!" she giggled louder. Zayn grabbed her feet and started tickling her, "Zee!"
"She's gonna explode with the giggles," Chiara laughed, holding Brooklyn in her lap when she finally got away, "hi."
"Hi."
"Hi."
Brooklyn giggled. "Hi, hi, hi."
"Hey, hey, hey, hey."
"Hi."
"Hi--" Brooklyn covered Chi's mouth before she could say anything else.
Zayn laughed, hopping down and looking in Brooklyn's bag for something to drink. "Hey, B, you want something to drink?"
