"It's your birthday!" Chiara cheered, holding RyDae's hands as she made him dance on the bed, "are you excited?"

"Mama!" he imitated her movements and she smiled harder, kissing his cheeks, "no," he wiped his face and she pouted.

"You don't love me?"

"Ah!" he plopped down on the bed and used his legs to bounce up and down.

Zayn slipped his shirt on, fixing his hat and grabbing the keys. "I'm sure everyone else is downstairs now, they're just waiting for Ry."

"Okay, shoot. Where are you going?"

"To get the cake," he replied smoothly, "need anything?"

"Uh, nothing actually. Oh, some apple juice please?"

"Gotcha," he kissed her lips and walked out.

"Daddy!"

"Yes?" Zayn turned around to meet Mecca's small eyes, "what's up?"

"Where you going?"

"To get Ry's cake, why?"

"Can I come with you?" she asked, biting her lip nervously.

"Is your room clean?"

"Uh..."

"I'm kidding," he ruffled her hair and yelled upstairs to tell Chi where their daughter was going to be, "come on. We're taking the truck."

"Oooh," she skipped alongside him and opened the door the the large vehicle, "can I get some candy?"

"Did you do your homework?"

"Yes--"

"I don't care," he watched her strap herself in, "just joking, babe. Of course!" He got in the driver's side and cut the truck on.

"Your jokes ain't that funny, daddy."

"Whatever."

"What color do you think RyDae likes?"

"Um..." Mecca stood up in the metal cart and glanced at the design of the cakes at the bakery, "he likes pink."

"Does he like pink or do you like pink?"

"...Me."

"Thought so," he held her like a football on his side and she squealed, hitting his back, "would you say he likes orange?"

"Let me go!" she giggled breathlessly, squirming away, "orange! It's orange, Baba."

"Okay," he set her back in the cart and rang the little bell for service, "so...that one?"

"Yeah, the rectangular one."

"Rectangular? Good word, babe."

"Thank you, man," she smiled at him.

"Hi, what would you like today, sir?" A baker was behind the glass counter, popping his head up.

"Hey, uh, may I get that orange cake right there--"

"This one--"

"No, the rectangular one," Mecca input with a small frown.

Zayn chuckled. "What she said."

"Oh, okay. And what would you like it to say?"

"Happy, happy, happy, happy first birthday, RyRy."
