WHEN I WOKE UP, the first thing I noticed was what I rested on. A plush bed, with big, white pillows fluffed under my head as support for my neck.

My eyes flew open and I shot up in bed, air escaping my lungs as pain punches me in the stomach.

Good job, forgetting about your bullet wound. Dimwit.

I spotted a glass of water atop the gleaming, oak nightstand and a box of pain numbing medication. I didn't take it, fearing for my safety. Those pills could be anything, as long as I know. I didn't trust Parasite, or Mr. Blackblood, as far as I could throw him.

Just then, the lock on the door clicked as someone pushed it open, and I caught sight of Parasite's shit-eating grin.

"Alive and kicking, I see." He mused, and I snarled at him. His eyes scanned the room, as if checking whether or not I'd gotten busy by tearing down the wallpaper. Then his eyes spotted the pills.

"Why didn't you take them?"

"I'd like to die in some other way than by pills, thank you very much." I snap back, narrowing my eyes.

"I left them in the package so you could see I wasn't killing you with my devious pills." He shook his head, picking up the box before showing me the sealed package, "See? Not even opened."

My composure bristled, and I tore into the box before quickly downing two pills with the water. The pain was still throbbing, and I hoped the pain would lessen.

"Are you in pain?"

"I'm fine." I responded, swinging my legs over the side of the bed, "Besides, we've business to do."

"What business?" He remarked, and I caught his eyes wandering over my face.

It can't possibly be that possible behind my mask-

My mask.

My eyes widened and my fingers shot up, touching bare skin.

"Wh - wh - wha?" I struggled to form words, and found his dark green eyes studying me closely.

"You know ...-" He trailed off, before picking up the sentence again, "-you're actually quite pretty behind that mask of yours."

"Oh, fuck off." I mumbled, vulnerability bubbling in my chest, "We need to discuss this."

I felt stripped bare without my mask. I didn't like it. Not at all.

He took a seat on the bed beside me, and his eyes slipped down to the broad bandage cover my midsection. My cheeks went pale as I realised the only thing covering me was a thin camisole and loose sweatpants.

"Are these yours?" I asked, pulling at the waist of the navy blue pants. Parasite smiled, wiggling his eyebrows.

I rolled my eyes, "I figured so. It's probably why they stink."

Parasite laughed despite my sly jab, and instead he raised himself from the bed, gesturing for me to get up too.

"You're correct, though." He said, rubbing his jaw, "-we've a lot of things to discuss. Your debt to me being the first."
