Peering through the living room window, Mrs. Carson peeks an eye through a clit in the gray curtains.
"Ivana," she started, leaving the window to turn around to her daughter who was sitting with her arms folded on the kitchen table and head down ontop. "You know, he's been here for the past five days. Even after school."
Ivana stayed unfazed by the comment made by her mother and the constant replay of her name coming from the boy behind the door. She hadn't known what she felt, but she knew that they couldn't talk again. Not now, not ever.
Her mother grew worried that her daughter wasn't telling her something. It could be something important, but she wasn't sure, so she assumed and asked.
Walking over to the counter she pulled up a seat besides her daughter and turned it in her direction.
She also placed a hand on her back and began to rub on it in a circular motion before pausing and moving her hand to her shoulder.
"Ivana!," the boy yelled continuously in the background.
"Ivana?" Her mother said softly. "Ivana..? Come on sweety, talk to me. What's going on?"
Ivana just grunted but her mother didn't retreat and wasn't planning on it. "Ivana!" Her mother demanded more sternly.
Ivana lifted her head up and bags were evident underneath her eyes as well as the lack of life within her skin. Her hair looked lifeless as we'll, but it was the voice in which she spoke that took her mother by surprise.
Her voice was croaky and weary. It held sadness and something unexplainable. Mrs. Carson was worried about her daughter and she knew that her daughter's more depressed state had to do with the boy standing behind their front door.
"Ivana what's wrong?" she asked once more.
"Nothing mom. I'm just... I'm just not feeling well that's all."
Worry still lingered about her mind and even more questions flurried around like a rampage.
"Are you pregnant?" She blurted, as both of their eyes opened wide with unexpectancy.
"Mom no! Of course not," Ivana retorted as of it were evident and should be the last thing her mother should be worrying about.
"Then what is it? Because you said you weren't feeling well, and Asher is outside yelling your name and telling you to talk to him. So I just drew conclusions. You're not giving me anything else to go on here," she reasoned.
Ivana straightened herself up and turned her body in the direction of her mother as she held her hands in her lap and her head hanging low.
Her mother reached forward and held Iva's chin in her hand and tilted it up slightly so that they'd be making eye contact.
"Tell me sweety."
"I am mom. Be patient."
They shared a brief chuckle before she began and retold the story of how everything went down a couple of nights ago.
