"Holly can we go someplace a little more private?" Joey asks me hopefully. I nod.
"Sure" I agree.
"Your room or mine?" he asks me.
"Mine is fine" I reply. He takes me by the hand then leads the way to my room. My head was spinning. He loved me. Never stopped. My heart was happy. We had so much to talk about. To reconnect. But we had so much time to do that!
"I am glad you took me back" he tells me as we ride the elevator to our room. He pulls me in his arms. He kisses me.
"I am glad I did to" I giggle.
"We do have a lot to talk about. About what I had done..." he begins to say.
"Joey we don't have to do this tonight" I tell him.
"No it is time. I want to" he tells me. I nod. I run my fingers in his hair. He holds me close. He looks worried.
"I am not going any place" I promise him.
"Good" he says softly as he smiles. Before the elevator stops he kisses me once more. We head to my room. I was excited and nervous to hear what he had to tell me. After all this time. I get my room key out. I let him in. We sit on my bed to talk. He holds me close. He places his hands into my hands. Our fingers lace together.
"So why Joey?" I manage to make myself ask.
"It was a confusing time back then. With my career in full swing. I thought you were hooking up with Jordan..." he tells me.
"What?" I stammer.
"Let me explain. The night of the concert. Back when I broke things off with you I knew you were getting close with Jordan. He told me he did have feelings for you. He told me he planned on going after you for himself. I was really worried. I knew Jordan was used to getting what he wanted when he wanted it. I thought if you liked Jordan then I was going to step out of the picture. Just basically give up" he sighs.
"You gave me up so easily" I say as I try not to cry.
"I know. I should have fought for you. But I gave up. So I wanted you to think you did not matter to me. I wanted you to move on without me. I was a jerk to you" he tells me softly.
"You broke my heart. I did not want to be with Jordan. I do care for him. He is my friend. But nothing more than that Joe. You have always been the one I wanted to be with" I full admit.
"I saw you and Jordan at the after party. When I was not able to spend time with you. I saw him kiss you. It hit me pretty hard when I saw it..."
"You saw that..." I stammer. Poor Joe.
1988
"How are things going with Joey?" Jordan casually asks me as he leans next to me. He smiles brightly.
"Things are going well. I wish we had more time together" I sigh.
"Well you are here. At another concert. How did you like this one? I was hoping you were going to be here tonight. I wanted to see you again" Jordan admits.
"You did? Why?" I ask.
"Holly I know Joey found you first. He has claim in you. But Joey is not perfect. Not the ideal boyfriend either. When you come to see that I will be here. Waiting for you. Holly I want a chance with you. If you will have me" Jordan tells me softly. He touches my chin with his fingers. He gazes into my eyes. He smiles at me.
"You have feelings for me?" I manage to say. He nods.
"I have. For a while. Every time I see you out in that crowd. I know you are there for Joey. Well I wish it was me you were there for, dumb huh?" he tells me.
"No it is not dumb. I am sorry. But I am Joey's girl" I remind him.
"I know you are. I am just saying if things happen to happen....and he breaks your heart. Well you have me" Jordan promises me. He smiles my way making my heart pound faster.
Then before I knew what to say in return he kisses me. Right on the lips....
"Joey I had no idea you saw that! I am sorry! I would have been very upset! But I wish you would have told me you saw that! You know that night Jordan sought me out. He told me he had feelings for me. And that if we broke up he wanted to be with me. Next thing I knew you were breaking up with me" I grumble.
"Jordan caused us to break up" Joey says suddenly as he looks a bit tense.
"Joey lets put this past us okay? Forget about it. We are together now. Do not let this ruin your friendship with Jordan. Please" I beg Joey.
"But he kissed you when he knew you were with me. I thought maybe you wanted him. But I find you wanted me. He did this to us! It pisses me off!" Joey snaps angrily. I hold him close to me.
"Joey listen please. I want you. It has always been you. Can you please focus on us tonight?" I beg of him.
"Sure Holly. I can do that" he promises me. He holds me close not saying a word. I knew he was hurting to find out the truth. I knew it was bothering him inside to think about what Jordan had done.
"Joey, just think though if we had not broken up you would not be a father. You would not have those beautiful kids. They are sweeties from your Instagram photos" I tell him.
"That is true. Though my wife had cheated on me" he sighs.
"But that led us back together. We are meant to be" I remind him.
"We are. This time no one is going to take you from me" he vows. He holds me close to him. He kisses the top of my head. I close my eyes as I hold him close.
"Holly? I came by to check on you. Are you alright?" I hear Jordan knock on the door. I groan. Oh no...
Joey gets up. Leaving me on the bed.
"Joey what are you going to do?" I beg to know as I follow him to the door. Joey opens the door to see Jordan there.
"Hey! I did not know you were here. I was checking in on Holly" Jordan goes to tell Joey. I see Joe's hand go into a fist. He nails Jordan right in the eye.
"JOEY! No!" I gasp. Before I knew what was going on there the two old friends were fighting.
"Guys stop! Please do not do this!" I call out. They would not listen to me.
"What is going on?" Donnie asks as he and Jenny come out of their room next to mine.
"Please help Donnie!" I beg.
Jon comes out when he hears what racket was going on in the hall. Jon grabs Jordan off of Joey. Donnie grabs Joey and they manage to stop them from fighting.
"Guys what has gotten into you?" Jenny demands to know. Jordan glares at Joey. Joey glares at Jordan. I sigh as I look away. Now what?
