"Joey I can't keep doing this" I stammer as I pull away. Tears begin to fall. Never let him see me cry. I try to leave. He holds me close to him.
"You can. Because there is something I need to say. Stay" he demands to me softly.
"I need to go" I stammer. He kisses me. Feelings of confusion set in.
"Your date will wonder where you are" I say softly pulling away.
"So will yours" he reminds me bitterly.
"I have to go" I say. I go to leave. He refuses to let me go. He pulls me as close to him as he can.
"Not until you hear what I have to say" he demands.
"Say it then" I say as I look away from him. Trying to hold back the tears. I did not want him to see them.
"I love you. I always have. I never got over you" he admits to me. My heart skips a beat.
"What?" I whisper.
"You know it is true. You can feel it in each kiss. Can't you? I love you" he replies again. He leans in and kisses me.
"What about Alexandra?" I demand.
"What about Jordan?" he demands to know.
Maybe I should come clean.
"Holly, there is nothing going on with Alex. I asked her to go on this date. We are friends. She knows how I feel for you. I was hoping to make you jealous. To get a rise out of you. To really see if you were with Jordan. When you got up from the table to leave I knew you still cared about me. You do don't you?" he demands to know.
"Joe..." I sigh.
"Are you with Jordan?" he wants to know.
"Holly? Are you alright?" Jordan finds me. Perfect timing.
"I am right here. I am fine" I tell Jordan. Joey pulls away from me. Hurt washes over his face. He watches to see what move I will pull next.
"Want to head back to the table?" Jordan asks me as he reaches out for my hand.
"Jordan, I have to come clean with Joey" I say softly.
"What?" Jordan asks me. He looks confused.
"Joey and Alex are not going to be going out" I say.
"Oh" says Jordan.
"Joey was just explaining things to me out here" I explain to Jordan.
"I see" says Jordan. I knew Jordan was going to get hurt if I go back to Joey. He had been such a good friend to me. I hated to hurt him in any way. But Joey was the one I want to be with. He had been all along.
"Jordan and I are not a couple. We have been working together" I blurt out to Joey.
"You sure you want to tell him?" Jordan asks. I nod.
"So you have been lying this whole time? Why Holly?" Joey wants to know.
"Jordan can you leave us alone?" I ask softly.
"Are you sure?" asks Jordan. I nod.
"Alright" sighs Jordan.
"I am here for you if you need me" Jordan whispers in my ear before walking away. Joey comes over to my side.
"Holly you are not with Jordan?" he asks hopefully.
"No I am not with Jordan. I have been working with him for three months. When I saw you on the ship again it scared me. I was not ready for seeing you at all" I manage to admit.
"Why is that Holly?" he asks me as he pulls me back in his embrace.
"Because I still....I still love you. I never stopped" I fully admit. He grins.
"I knew you were never his. You were always mine. You always have been. You always will be" he tells me softly. He leans in and kisses me making me breathlessly. I had so many unanswered questions still. But they could wait. Joey loved me. I loved him.
It seemed like a dream. It if was I did not want to wake up from it.
"I know I have hurt you badly in the past. It won't happen again if you let me back in your life Holly. What do you say? Will you have me back in your life? I don't want a life without you in it" he says softly as his hand touches my cheek. He gazes in my eyes.
"I would like that a lot. I want to be with you Joe" I say as I smile his way.
"I am so sorry for hurting you Holly" he says softly. He kisses me making me melt. "We have wasted so much time apart"
"We found our way back to each other" I say softly. He nods.
"This is our second chance. I will not blow it" he vows. He kisses me. His heart found its way back to mine. Where we belonged.
