You're My Princess || maiden au

I.-New Threat-

*three months later*

 Things have all went back to normal for Alden and Maine, well ... as normal as they can be.  He went back to the house that his parents left for him. There, Maine moved in as well since she needs more time to accept the fact that the reason her mother died is because her father became a little too selfish about money. 

 Alden understands her though, he knows how she feels and made it clear to her that he will always be there no matter what. That day at the small warehouse changed him forever, he never thought he would be THAT scared to lose someone. Right now, Maine is the most important thing for him ... only her and nothing else. 

"Babe?" she called out. Alden got up form the kitchen stool and walked outside, only to see her smiling at him. 

 "What?" he asked. 

  Maine then showed him what she's hiding behind her back. Alden's eyes widened as soon as he saw a golden retriever puppy inside the cage she's holding.  "Oh my God .. is that?" he asked while pointing at it. 

 "Yes Alden .. I got us a puppy!"

Maine is definitely satisfied with her surprise.  She found out a couple of weeks after she moved in that Alden is such a dog person, that's why she thought a puppy would be able to lift up not only his mood but also the whole feel of the house they live in. 

 "Isn't he the cutest?" she asked. 

 "Yes he is"

 "What should we name him?"

 "How about Liam?"

 Maine smiled and agreed  to his suggestion. "Okay from now on ... you're gonna be our baby puppy ... your name is Liam" she uttered while slowly patting the golden retriever's head. After doing so, Maine went to the kitchen to get it a bowl of water. 

 "Um babe?" Alden asked as soon as she returned. 

 "What?"

 "I ... I'm gonna have to leave later"

 "Where are you going?"

 "It's a secret ... but I'll tell you about it soon"

 "It's not illegal, right?"

 "Of course it's  not ... don't be silly"

  "Fine, I trust you" she replied before pinching Alden's cute face.  The past 10 weeks have gone by peacefully that's why Maine is pretty convinced that the life she's living right now has gotten back to normal. That the only thing she needs to work on is to learn how she can trust her father again and then everything will be fine. She still misses her mother though, especially right now that her birthday is only a few days away. 

 That ordeal took her innocence. She lost her Mum because of a senseless fight between her Dad and Uncle. She would never forgive them for it, never ever. Maine was only able to snap out of her thoughts after hearing the doorbell ringing. 

 "I got it" she said right away. As soon as Maine opened the door, she saw that no one is on the other side. Puzzled by it, she grabbed a baseball bat and walked out to the porch. Right on the front staircase, she saw a small box carefully placed right on the center of the first step. 

Maine then picked it up and rushed back inside the house.

 "Who's that?" Alden asked as soon as his girlfriends got back inside. "I don't know ... I just saw this box there .. the whole street is empty" she replied before placing the said box right on the kitchen table. 

 "Should we open it?" she asked. Alden took a deep breath and volunteered to do it. 

 "Go back to the living room"

 "Why?"

 "Just do it"

 "How about you?"

 "I'll be okay"

 "Okay" she answered and went back to the living room. The young girl then stood at the position where she can still see him. Alden slowly unwrapped the box. As soon a she was able to cut the seal, he slowly lifted the cover. 

 The young guy then screamed as soon as he saw what it is.

Maine ran back to the kitchen and saw that the box has two severed fingers in it. She quickly looked away and covered her mouth. "Oh my God who would do that?" she asked Alden.  He then reached for the box and looked under it's cover. 

 "There's something written underneath it" he told her. 

 "What is it?" she asked, still not looking. 

 "To Maine, I hope  you'll keep this fingers because I'm gonna chop yours"

  "Holy shit"
