15.-Save Your Love-

It took Maine a couple of hours to reach the place. But as soon as she got there, the young girl noticed something off. 

Maine got out of her car and walked towards the house, there's not even a single goon outside which makes it very weird. "Dad?!" she called out but no one is answering. With her heart beating fast, Maine then knocked on the door. And when it did not open, she just decided to peer through the window. 

 But the dustiness of the glass that is on the inside made it hard for her. "Hello?" she called out once again but still no one answered. And just as when Maine is about to leave, her phone started ringing. "Hello? where's my Dad?" she asked right away. 

 "Don't worry sweetheart, your Dad is perfectly safe. You on the other hand is in danger"

 Maine's heart dropped after hearing those words. The next thing that happened is something she would have never imagined. With a forceful blow at the back of her head, the young girl fell to the ground. Maine was able to turn her face to the side and saw a guy looking down on her. 

 She tried to talk, but then everything went black.

Alden woke up a little late than usual. He sat up on the couch while wiping his eyes. After doing so, the young guy started knocking on Maine's door. But after it opened with just one tap, he knew she wasn't there. 

 "Maine?!" he called out, walking around the house. He even got outside to check on her, only to find that the car is gone as well. 

 "Shit" he uttered before dialing her number. It's ringing, but she's not answering. With his heart beating so fast, Alden walked back inside and checked one more time. "Maine?!" he's now literally yelling but still she's nowhere to be found. 

The young guy quickly washed his face before returning to the living room. There he saw a piece of paper with an address written on it. "#654 Peak Drive, Edmonton" that's what it says. 

 Now knowing what just happened, Alden quickly called his friends back at the military. 

 "Hello Jack?"

 "Alden?"

 "I'm gonna need your help ... all the help you can get"

 "Why? I thought you'll be here today? The chief has been waiting for you"

 "Tell him we can't make it there. Maine just met up with the killer , we have to save her"

 "I'll see what I can do , what's her address?"

 "#654 Peak Drive, Edmonton"

 "We'll be there"

 "Thank you" 

 As soon as the call ended, Alden quickly got dressed. Due to the fact that he doesn't have a car, it would be difficult to travel to a place that is a few hours away.But then he realized something,  there's another car in the garage. 

 Alden quickly ran out and removed the thick plastic cover of it. Underneath, he saw a blue one that almost matches Maine's car. "I'm gonna save you love, don't worry"

As soon as Maine opened her eyes, the blinding light of the LED spotlight shining on them almost made it impossible to see. 

 "Maine?" a familiar voice asked. the young girl looked at he side and saw her father handcuffed against the metal bars. Maine on the other hand is inside a life-sized cage. 

 "Dad!" 

 "Please tell me you're alright sweetheart"

 "Yes I am ... Dad, it's uncle Nick .. he's behind all of this"

 "He already knows that, sweetheart" Maine stopped and then looked on. As soon as the blinding light was turned off, her own uncle came into her view. 

 "Why did you do this? I hate you!"

 "Have you asked your Dad why? He knows the answer Maine"

 "What do you mean?"

 "Fine .. since you're my niece ... I'm gonna tell you our story"

 "What story?"

 "Let's just say , everything you have in life ... every single material thing .. he stole it from me"

 "Nick, you know that's not true" Mr. Mendoza protested. 

 "Shut up! I waited more than two decades for this to happen"

 "My Dad's not a thief"

 "Actually ... he is. You see Maine, 25 years ago things were different. Your Dad and I are just a pair of young men pitching our ideas to different companies inf hopes of getting rich"

 "Nick, stop it!"

 Maine had started to tear up. She heard a story before , the one where his Dad supposedly stole his million dollar 'idea' from someone else. She thought it was nothing but a myth, but it's actually a true one. 

 "Shut up or I'll kill you!"

After hot wiring the car to make it work ... Alden, along with his guns, left the house to save Maine. While he is on his way there, tons of questions flooded his mind. however, he is trying his bets to push them at the back so he can focus more on saving Maine. 

 If this is the day he dies, he'll accept it. If he's gonna die in order for Maine to live, he will do it. That's how precious she is to him. 

 "I'm coming Maine .... I'm coming to save you my love"

Maine's heart broke after hearing the entire story that her Uncle Nick said. She would like to believe that it's a fake one but after seeing her father's reaction, she knew that it's real. The idea that gave them all the money they have did not come from his father, he stole it from her Uncle .. his own brother. 

When the young girl asked why he had to kill her Mom, he told Maine that his brother stole her from him. That when the money came pouring in, Maine's mum left her Uncle Nick to be with her Dad. 

 "Okay, now that the story is finished ... tell me Maine, which one of you would like to die first?"
