Robert walked Cora back to her hotel. They hadn't spoken a word to eachother since they left the bandstand.
Cora went to enter her room when Robert grabbed her arm. She looked deeply into his eyes.

"Cora, things aren't going to be the same again, are they? Not after what Mama did" he asked sounding sad.

Cora looked innocently at Robert. She felt incredibly guilty but she had no reason to feel that way, it was his Mama who intervened in their courtship.

"It wont be like this forever Robert. I just need time, time to re-adjust. Your Mama wont beat me, she wont beat us" she said as she caressed his cheek.

He smiled back still looking bewildered.
Damn you Mama! He thought to himself.
"Very well Cora, if time is what you need then time is what you shall have" he answered trying to act the brave solider he thought he was.

Cora smiled brightly "Thankyou Robert. Your so understanding, I don't deserve you"

Robert shuck his head. "It is I who doesn't deserve you Cora"
Cora blushed lightly but visablly enough for Robert to see. He then continued. "Well I must be going, I do hope that I can see you again very soon Cora. Oh also I can't apologise enough for my Mama's behaviour. There was no need for the way she treated you"

"Robert, there's no need to apologise. It wasn't your doing. I promise to be in touch, very soon" Cora kissed Robert on the cheek and went into her hotel room.

Robert leaned against the door and sighed. His Mama had done alot of damage.
