Jane's Point Of View:
I walked into the autopsy room, and Maura was examining a body.
"Hey Maura--what are you doing?" I asked when I saw a pencil in Maura's mouth.
"Biting on a pencil." She replied
"I can see that, why?"
"It activates the muscles user for smiling." She said as she took the pencil out of her mouth.
"Those muscles are a little out of shape." I teased
"I'm going to ignore you in attempt to improve my mood."
"Okay, so biting pencils works?"
"Well holding your teeth in this position engages the zygomaticus major--"
"I can't understand you."
"Some studies show that you can trick your brain into thinking your happy by moving certain muscles. It's petty, small minded. It should be enough to know I am safe and not in danger anymore." She complained.
"Maura, it's okay." She said before the autopsy door opened and Korsak and Frost walked in.Maura's Point Of View:
When the door swung open and Frost and Korsak walked in, I quickly took the pencil out of my mouth.
"Anything doc?" Frost asked
"The ice pick punctured the heart causing the victim to bleed out." I said not acknowledging Dennis by his name.
"The lab is looking for finger prints on the ice pick and pictures, but so far we have nothing."
"Typical. You aren't going to find anything. It's Patty Doyal head of the Irish Mob. He's the best of the best, you aren't going to find anything. He's never makes a mistake." Korsak informed us.
"Well he's isn't perfect. Everyone makes mistakes." I corrected.
"All that matters is that Dennis is dead and we know who did it." Jane said
"We have no hard evidence to tie Patty to the murder except for the ice pick." Frost said
"The ice pick is his MO" Jane said
"I have work to do upstairs." Korsak said Frost following behind him."Maur, when do you want to tell everyone about...us?" I asked
"I was thinking maybe tonight. I love the little bubble we are in. You know, not being bombarded with questions. But I hate keeping it a secret." I replied
"Okay I'll tell ma to arrange a family get together and to invite Korsak and Frost." She said grabbed her phone and texting fast.
"I'll see you later, Mau--" I cut her off by pulling her Into a kiss. I couldn't help but stare at her till she was out of sight.Family Dinner:
The rest of the day went by slowly. Mainly just filling out files and waiting to test results. When the clock finally hit 6:30pm, I quickly packed my stuff up and met Jane in the lobby. We walked out hand in hand not caring who saw. When we got to Angela's, Jacob was playing on the floor while Angel set the table.
"You guys are here good. Everyone one else should be here any minute. Now would one of you like to share why I pulled a last minute family dinner?" She asked placing her hands on my hips. I just looked at Jane indicating for her to do the talking as I leaned down and picked my Jacob.
"Just be patient Ma. I know might seem foreign to you." She said sarcastically.Jane's Point Of View:
I am actually really nervous about this. What if they don't expect me and Maura. I love Maura I can't lose her. I love Maura. Did I just say I love her? I've never even said it out loud to her before. She had said it to me many times. Damn, I love Maura. I looked down to the floor to see Jacob sitting on Maura's lap, both playing with the little toys with. In this moment I realized I want to spend my life with her and Jacob. I sat on the floor next to Maura and started playing with them.
Before I knew it, the front door swung open and loud obnoxious Rizzoli's came laughing in.
"Hey Janie! Maura! Ma!" Frankie practically screamed.
"God Frankie, we are all in the same room." I said
"Sorry."
"Hey everyone!" Tommy screamed next.
"It's no use." I whispered, earning a small laugh from Maura. Next piled in Frost, and Korsak. As dinner time came closer and closer, the more nervous I got. I started swaying my hips side to side, and rubbing my scars on my hands. Maura clearly saw that o was nervous because she came over and put her hand on my shoulder.
"It's gonna be okay Jane." She reassure me. I gave her a quick smile, before taking Jacob from her.
"Hi my handsome boy." I said kissing his cheek causing him to laugh. I couldn't believe how much he looks like Maura. He has her beautiful hazel eyes, and her smile.
"Dinner is ready!" Ma shouted throughout the house. Everyone rush and pushed into the kitchen. Me and Maura trailed behind everyone and took our seats next to each other. Maura placed Jacob on her lap, and fed both him and herself. I adored how much she loved Jacob. She never thought she was cut out to be a mom, but she's a great mom. After everyone was settled down and had their plates full with food, Ma broke the silence.
"So Jane. What's this "announcement" you had?" Ma asked. I cleared my throat and looked at Maura and she just flashed me her dimples.
"Well Ma, everyone, me and Maura are...well together." I said squinting my eyes excepting Ma to start yelling in Italian. When no one said anything I opened my eyes back to normal size again. Everyone either had their forks halfway if their mouth or their jaw half way to the floor.
"Finally!" Frost yelled breaking the silence.
"What?" I asked confused.
"Come on. We all knew you two where a thing. You make it so obvious. We all started betting on when you two would tell us." He explained.
"So you guys aren't mad?" Maura asked
"Hell nah! We are so happy!" Am yelled
"Ma, watch your mouth." Tommy joked. That was WAY easier then I thought. The rest of the night was like usual family dinners, loud talking and laughing at embarrassing childhood stories.Maura's Point Of View:
When we finally got home, it was about ten o'clock. Not unusual for a family dinner, actually that was early. Jacob was fast asleep, and me and Jane were curled up in each other's arms on the couch.
"That was way easier then I thought." Jane said
"Yeah. Was it really that obvious?? I thought we did a good job at hiding it." I confessed.
"Well nothing gets passed ma."Next Night:
It was seven thirty when I finally finished the autopsy. I put the file safely in my office drawer before packing my stuff and headed up to the bullpen room. When I got to the bullpen, there was no sign of Jane.
"Where's Jane?" I asked Frost
"She went home." He replied
"Okay. Goodnight detective." I said flashing him a smile.
"Night, Doc." He replied clicking quickly on his keyboard. I put my hands in my warm jacket pockets and headed towards the elevator. When I pulled up to my Beacon Hill house, I saw Jane's unmarked car parked in the driveway. Pulled up behind it before shutting the car off. I headed up the driveway, and unlocked the front door. When I got inside, I was met with Jane making dinner.
"Hey Maur." She said smiling
"Hey." I replied as I kicked off my heels and made my way towards the kitchen. As I made my way further into the kitchen, I saw Jacob sitting in his high chair eating Cheerios.
"Mommy!" He squealed, his arms reaching towards me.
"Hi baby!" I said as I took him out of the high chair and kissed his cheek. I made my way around the kitchen island and gave Jane a peck on the lips.
"You're cooking." I said surprised
"You seem surprised." She said smirking
"Well...you never cook." I said bluntly.
"Growing up in an Italian family, you always learn to cook. I just hate cooking. But I still got a few tricks up my sleeve." She said
"What's the occasion?"
"No occasion. You've just had so much stressed put on you, I wanted to lighten the load. I love you." I stopped dead in my tracks and turned to look at her.
"You do?"
"I do."
"I love you too." I said giving her a passionate kiss, Jacob looking up at the both of us.A/N: well everyone this is gonna wrap up the book. Thank you for all of your guy's support!!
