Milan
5:48 AM. Tuesday.
Milan was awoken by her phone ringing off the hook. She sighed and pressed the ignore button. Her phone continued to ring then her house phone started to ring. She cursed to herself and opened her eyes, grabbing the phone and placing it to her ear while laying back down."Meeca why're you calling me this late? It better be a good reason. Did you get drunk?" Milan asked.
Meeca screamed. "No! Tyreek's been shot Milan! He's down at Peterson's hospital. Get down there now!"
Milan's eyes flushed open and she jumped out the bed. "I'm going there now." She hung up the phone and ran in her closet to get some clothes. She changed into a pair of Victoria Secret sweatpants, a black polo shirt and some Jordan's. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail. She opened A'liyah's door and woke her up by shaking her. A'liyah opened her eyes confused and looked at Milan.
"Baby put some pants and shoes on and be downstairs now." She left A'liyah's room and went across the hall to A'lijah's room and woke him up.
"Mom why you running around like a crazy lady?" He asked.
Milan sighed. "A'lijah now is not the time for questions. Please get dressed and go downstairs and make it fast."
She left his room and went downstairs to start the car up. She started the car up and within the next couple seconds, the twins were walking out the house still tired from getting woken up. They got inside the car and buckled on their seatbelts as Milan backed out the driveway and drove to the hospital. The sun was now rising and the city was getting some color.
Milan parked outside the hospital and felt her heart racing. She didn't know anything. She didn't know what happened or who could've done this. Milan held the twins hands while walking into the hospital. Meeca, Tyreek's right hand man Jaydin and another man whom Milan didn't know was waiting in the hospital. She thought it was weird how everyone was here except for Stephanie. But she excused that thought out her head and focused on what was important.
"What happen to him?" Milan asked.
"I don't know we haven't spoken to any doctors yet. It's like a fuckin waiting game up in this bitch." Meeca said loud enough for the other doctors to overhear.
Milan sat down next to the twins. She sighed while waiting for the doctor to come with some news. A few minutes later, a tall, slim, black man came from behind the doors and into the waiting room. He slid on his glasses before looking at a piece of paper he was holding. "Family members of Tyreek?"
Milan stood up. "I'm his kids mother."
The doctor smiled. "Hello ma'am. Around three this morning Tyreek was shot five times. Twice in the chest, once in the neck, once in the thigh and another in the arm. He lost a large amount of blood and it was a terrible task but we managed to stop the bleeding and remove three out of five of the bullets. He has a lot of healing and recovering to do but he's alive and breathing which is amazing. He's definitely a fighter."
It felt like a weight lifted off Milan's shoulder hearing the news. She wiped the fallen tears from her eyes. She couldn't believe that just hours before he got killed, she slapped him and called him all types of names. Now she knows it's true when someone says never take someone you cherish for granted because you'll never know when it's their time to go.
