The Princess in Me

Chapter 2

I glanced down at my phone for the millionth time. "Mom how much longer is this tour?" I whispered.

"Not much longer. Why? Aren't you enjoying yourself?"

"Yeah. I am having fun. I love this tour but I just wanted to go out and look around some more before dinner. “

"I thought that's what you did yesterday when we first got here?"

"Yes, but today I wanted to walk down the other end of the beach." I lied. I just wanted to go back to the coffee shop and see Shawn again.  And if I told my parent’s the truth about what I was doing they wouldn’t let me go meet Shawn.

"Okay, well it's almost over."

"Okay," I said.

This whole island is beautiful and this tour really showed what the whole island looked like. It is mixed with old and new. The one major city had beautiful modern skyscrapers. At night, according to our tour guide, there is a light show on some of the skyscrapers.

We were on a road that was along the coast. We passed over a bridge that went over a river that forked out into the ocean. The bridge was beautiful. It was an arched metal bridge that looked like it had colored with age. It was beautiful. After we passed the bridge the road went inland into a forest area. The green evergreen trees were really close together. It reminded me of the woods around our home.

"We are coming along the last spot of our tour before returning to our starting point." The tour guide said. "This spot is one of the most beloved areas in the country. Does anyone know what it is?"

"Is it the royal castle?" Someone near the front of the tour bus said.

"It is in fact the royal castle. It is called Altman Castle. This was castle has been a part of the royal family since the beginning of Kaelan. Since the country's creation it has been remodeled many times but has remained the same on the outside. The castle we are about to pass just finished some remodeling on the inside. It is separated into four wings. The North, East, South, and West. You will get a glimpse of what it looks like in on your right in a few moments."

I am really glad that I choose to take the window seat because the view of the castle was amazing! It looked like something from a fairy tale. The whole building was made from grey stone. It had a few towers and enormous windows. The area around the castle was just as beautiful. There were all kinds of beautiful flowers that made the whole area so colorful. Being so far away I couldn't tell what kinds of flowers they are. The entire castle was surrounded with a cast iron fence. This whole area was nothing like I have ever seen. The more time I spend here I can't see myself leaving.

"Thank you everyone for coming on the tour of Kaelan. Please visit again. And remember don't move around the bus until it has reached a complete stop. We will be arriving back to the starting point of the tour in about 20 minutes. Thank you." The tour guides voice came over the intercom of the double decker tour bus. The rest of the tour was silent.

The bus came to a stop after another 20 minutes of driving. We were back in the city near our hotel. "Okay mom I'm going to go!" I said as I got up and started racing off the bus.

"Be careful!" She yelled behind me.

"I will."
