Chapter 8. Bon Voyage!

Part 1

A dinner in Paris? Why on Earth I accepted Parker's deal? Well, at least Adrien won't loose his job, so let's say something good will come out of this nonsense. I put a bunch of clothes in a backpack and went downstairs, Parker was still upstairs managing how to make his big ass ego fit inside a suitcase.

"Paaaarky boy, I'm waiting!"

"Stop calling me that!" He said angrily carrying his suitcase with both hands.

"I like the sound of it, P-A-R-K-Y... boy."

"Whatever, let's go."

Monsieur Facheux and Madam Herriot waved goodbye at us from the entrance, as Parker and I drove away into some late night adventure. I was starting to wonder why Parker had chosen to drive so late, is he trying to murder me? Probably; I turned and stared at him suspiciously, waiting for any sudden movement that would give away his real and dark intentions.

"What are you doing?" Asked Parker, clearly disturbed by my suspicions, I guess killing me would be more difficult if I already knew my tragic fate, amiright?

"Are you gonna kill me?"

"Not today."

"Why are you taking me to your dinner?"

"Because we have a deal, don't we?"

"I know, it's just... you could've asked for something else, why this?"

"Because that dinner... is more like a party, and a lot of people are messing with me and my business, let's say I need a distraction to divert the attention from those uncomfortable questions, that I can't really answer right now."

"You don't have to if you don't want to."

"The thing is, Hummingbird, that the people asking are investors, I can't answer until I have those questions answered to me, first."

"What kind of questions?"

"That's top secret, Hummingbird."

"I had never been used like this before, in other ways yes, but never like this..." I said more to myself, I felt Parker's gaze on me, but I ignored it.

"Hey, Fuzzball! Wake up, we arrived!" Was the first thing that I heard after falling asleep.

"What?"

"We arrived." Said Parker exasperated, it was still dark outside when I opened my eyes.

After getting out of the car I realized where we were, it was a hotel, but not any hotel, it was the Mandarin Oriental, the most expensive hotel in the whole city, and even though I had plenty of money to stay there as long as I wanted, I wasn't excited to spend a single minute there; while I calculated the price I saw Parker entering the lobby.

"Are we gonna stay here?"

"Yes."

"For real?"

"Yes, I already reserved the suits."

"Oh..." I whispered.

"What, not good enough for you?"

"Expensive enough for me." I said looking at every single piece if furniture like it was a human corpse.
