After using up the 3000 tickets, we decided to go out for dinner with the boys. We went to a diner that we used to always go to in high school. (I know it wasn't in the previous books but just imagine that they went to this diner all the time. Thanks!) As we walked into the old diner, we were greeted by the scent of french fries and burgers.
"Yahhh. I'm so hungry!" J-Hope said, rubbing his flat tummy.
"You guys! It's been forever since I've seen you guys!" a voice said.
We looked up and saw the ahjumma that used to always serve us and clean up our mess. One time we played around and we made a complete mess. Everyone in the diner got mad at us and left. We were walking on the tables, throwing food at each other, and wiping our dirty hands everywhere. It wasn't pleasant.
"Omo! You even have a daughter? Are you married?" she said, eyeing Taheyung and I.
We laughed and bowed politely.
"Yes, we are married. This is our daughter, Taeguk." Taehyung smiled.
Taeguk smiled and looked away shyly. The ahjumma smiled and lead us to our usual table in the corner of the diner. We sat in our usual spots, but this time Taeguk in between Taehyung and I. I looked around the table and smiled at seeing all of us together.
"What are you smiling at, Hyejin?" Yoongi asked.
"I'm just so happy that we are all together." I smiled.
Everybody's faces lit up with a smile and the rest of the night was filled with laughter and maybe some food fights. I felt bad for the ahjumma so I helped her clean some food up before we left. We headed home and it was close to 9:00pm. I put Taeguk to sleep and jumped onto the couch beside Taehyung. He was watching a Korean Drama so I watched it with him. All of a sudden the doorbell rang.
"Who could it be at this time of night?" Taehyung wondered.
I got up and opened the door, revealing two people.
"Eomma? Appa?" I said.
"Hyejin!" they smiled.
They pulled me into a hug as I didn't return the hug. I gave them a confused look and let them talk.
"We went to your old house but no one was there and it looked empty so I called your friend and he told us your address." my mom explained.
"But why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in America? And aren't you divorced?" I asked.
"We were, but we decided to come visit you." my dad replied.
"We decided to work things out so we're slowly getting better. That why I went back to America." my mom added.
"Hyejin, who is it? Oh- annyeonghaseyo." Taehyung said, bowing.
"Oh! You two actually did get married!" my mom smiled, looking at the rings on our fingers.
I sighed and turned around walking to our bedroom.
"You can come in-" Taehyung started.
"No, they can stay right there. I'm just going to give them something and they'll be on their way." I said.
"But, why don't they just sit down while they wait for you to get your stuff?" Tae said.
"Just stay there." I sighed, walking up.
But of course, Taehyung invited them in. They happily sat on our couches and looked around our house. I walked into our room and opened my night table. Mom went back to America to work things out with my dad, so once again, they left me here. I took out letters and letters and boxes from the drawer. I collected them in my arms and walked downstairs. I walked to the living room and threw it all on the coffee table. They were shocked by the noise, even Tae ran out from the kitchen to see what the sound was.
"What's all this?" my mom asked.
"What's all this? Why don't you take a look?" I said, crossing my arms.
My parents reached over and looked through the pile.
"Sent back by receiver, sent back by receiver." they read.
"Now do you know what all 'this' is?" I asked.
"Yeah that's right, all the letters and gifts I sent, trying to get a hold of you guys. I called, I emailed, I texted, I sent letters, I did all that I could to contact you guys again." I shouted.
"Hyejin, we can explain." my dad said.
"Explain what? Explain why you never replied to my emails, why you never answered my phone calls, and why you never accepted anything I sent you? How about you explain why you left me to fend for myself?" I yelled.
Taeguk's cry interrupted our conversation. I sighed and ran upstairs. I heard my parents ask Taehyung about the baby's cry. Taehyung told them we had a baby and so on. I walked back downstairs after quieting Taeguk and letting her sleep.
"You never told us." my mom said.
"Never told you? That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard! I tried telling you guys! I did everything I could to tell you guys that I was pregnant, that I was giving birth, and that it was a girl!" I shouted.
"Hyejin, we were scared." dad sighed.
"Scared? Scared of what?" I yelled.
"Scared of what is happening now." mom peeped.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. I walked to the front door and opened it.
"Go, please. I don't want to see you right now." I said.
They froze and so did Taehyung.
"Hyejin, maybe you should let them ex-" he said.
"No. I don't want to hear their explanation. Please just leave." I said.
They got up and whispered their apologies to Taehyung and put on their shoes and walked out the door.
"Don't ever call my friends or come back!" I shouted as I slammed the door shut.
Tears started rolling down my cheeks as I started to sob louder and louder. I slid down against the door and sat on my bottom. I buried my face in my knees and cried. Taehyung sat beside me and hugged me, telling me that it was okay.
"They left me, they left me for money. And now they're expecting me to welcome them with open arms?" I cried into his shoulder.
"They just wanted you to know that they care about you and they still think about you." he whispered.
I continued crying until there were no tears left. I pulled away and looked at Taehyung's tired face.
"Let's go to sleep now." I whispered. He nodded and we stood up together, walking back to our room.
