Chapter 15

It had been weeks since Ollie had started Chemo, and his body wasn't taking it well.

It was cold frosty morning when Zosia woke up to the sounds of retching, she quickly jumped out of bed and found Ollie over the toilet bowl, she knelt down beside him, and gently stroked his face.

"Oh Ollie I wish I could stop all of this." She said,
" Bit of role reversal never hurt anyone and now I know what you and all pregnant women feel now." He smiled before his face overcame with pain and he collapsed into the toilet once more.

"It's okay I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere."
"Zosh, I just want it to stop." He cried,
" You're nearly there Ollie, few more weeks." He gently smiled before Zosia helped him up and into bed.

Oliver's body had become weak and fatigue often raged his body, Zosia had never seen him so vulnerable. The side effects of the chemotherapy were hitting Ollie face on, constant nosebleeds, nausea and fatigue were just a few, but the pair knew it was normal.

"Right Ollie I'm off to work, call me if you need anything, Love you." She kissed his forehead,
"I love you too." He replied sleepily.

Zosia arrived on Darwin and went into the staff room to grab a cup of tea,
"Hey Selfie Junior, how's Valentine doing this morning?" Mo asked
"Not good, this last round has really taken it out of him." She sighed,
"He's a fighter a Zosh, how's the baby?"
"Got my twelve week scan tomorrow, Ollie can't wait I just don't think he's gonna be well enough."
"Zosia, you know he wouldn't miss it for the world. Now come on let's gets to work, I've got a valve replacement, fancy a scrub in?"
"Sure." She smiled.

A few hours later, Zosia's phone began to vibrate in her pocket,
"Hello."
"Zosia, help-" a breathless voice replied.
"Ollie? What's wrong?"
"My head-d its b-burning."
"Okay Ollie, I'm coming, I'm coming. Hang on." She then covered the phone and shouted to Mo who was at the desk.

"Mo, call an ambulance, it's Ollie." She Immediately dialled 999 as Zosia began to run to the car.
"Ollie please, can you hear me."
"Zosh. Burning. P-Please." He whispered. Then the phone went silent.
"Ollie?" Zosia cried.

Silence.
