It was 2am and the sounds of crying filled the room, Zosia groaned,
"It's okay I've got him." Ollie whispered.

Ollie gently picked Zachary up and took him to the kitchen, as soon as he saw the bottle the cries stopped.

"You've got us all wrapped around your finger haven't you, you're only 5 months and look at you. A mummy's boy already." The baby gurgled, and Ollie began to burp Zachary, but just as he was about to the searing pain flared across his head, he quickly yelled for Zosia and placed Zachary in his high chair before his body fell to floor and begun to convulse violently.

Zosia slowly walked out into the kitchen sleepily but as soon as she saw Ollie she placed him in the recovery position,
"Ols, I'm here it's okay." She cried as she rang 999.

He hadn't had a fit in ages and she knew what it meant.

When the paramedics arrived Ollie was still fitting,
"Right were gonna have to take him in, he's struggling to breathe." Zosia only nodded as she grabbed Zachary, kissing his forehead for comfort.
"Just make him comfortable please." The paramedics nodded sadly as they placed him onto the stretcher.

As they arrived at the hospital, Ollie was immediately taken up to CT, whilst Zosia climbed the flights of stairs up to neurology with Zachary, hoping by the time she got there Ollie would be out of the scanner.

By the time she had reached the ward, Zachary had fallen asleep silently in his mothers arms, oblivious to the world around him.
"Oh baby, I'm not ready, I'm not ready for your daddy to go." She cried to the sleeping infant.

Zosia was welcomed by a nurse who slowly took her into a side room where Ollie was, he was asleep with an oxygen mask on, the constant beeping of his heart rate kept Zosia calm. All she could notice was that he was so pale and cold, so lifeless.

Eventually a consultant came in,
"Hi Dr March, I'm afraid it's grown again, and this time it's inoperable. It's also spread to the pancreas. His body is simply not strong enough to fight all of it, his kidneys are failing too..."

Zosia just nodded, not trusting her own voice.

"Do you have any questions?" The doctor asked. She had one.

"How long does he have?" She whispered.

"It could be couple of days, maybe a week. But I will make sure he his pain free I promise."

Zosia's head dropped and looked at her son. A son who would never know his father.

---------------------------------

It had been a few hours since Zosia had learnt the news, Dom and Arthur had visited and taken Zachary. A hospital was no place for him.

Zosia was sat in a crooked chair next to Ollie, slowly stroking his hair, it had grown back more silky then ever. He was just so beautiful, so handsome, she didn't know how she could live without him. The realisation then hit her and she broke down in tears.

Then suddenly the hand she was holding clenched back, she looked up and saw his piercing blue eyes,
"Hey, I'm okay, I'm still here." Ollie whispered.
"You'd promised me Ollie, you promised you would stay." She sobbed into his chest,
"I've tried my best, I got see my beautiful boy, and spend time with my beautiful girlfriend but it's time now, I can't fight it anymore."

A single tear slowly edged down his cheek,
" I don't want to die here though Zosh, I want to die at home, with you, with Zachary."
"Then I will make it happen, but please just hang on for a few days Zachary needs his daddy for a bit longer and so do I."

Ollie replied with a weak smile, he wasn't going to make a promise he couldn't keep.
