"Ah, Dr. Beilshmidt! It's been too long!" General Vargas grinned as he shook the younger man's hand. "I heard you have something to show us today?"
Gilbert chuckled, making sure he stood straight. "Of course, sir. If I didn't, I'd be without a job. The awesome me needs a job and this agency needs a Tech nerd as awesome as myself to update weaponry and software."
General Vargas chuckled, tucking his arms behind his back, Antonio Fernandez Carriedo and Gilbert's younger brother, Ludwig Beilshmidt on either side of the General. "My grandson, Feliciano, always is saying how smart you are and talented with technology you are, so I hope I am not disappointed."
"I hope you aren't as well." Gilbert's grin faltered, then he turned. "If you'll follow-"
The doors to the lab slammed open. All four men whipped around with widened eyes. Arthur blinked, then his face glowed a bright, embarrassed red. "I-I'm sorry, I'll come back la-"
"Arthur, mi amigo! Come in, come in!" Antonio grinned and went over to the flustered Brit. "Gilbert here has something he needs to show us! Why don't you see as well! After all, you will be working with whatever it is!" Antonio ushered Arthur in as the smaller male fumbled over his words. General Vargas chuckled, but Ludwig held a straight face as the four were lead to a room at the back of the tech lab.
"So first, I'm going to explain my new tech," Gilbert stated, shutting the door behind them. "This is the room where I tested him."
"'Him?'" Vargas echoed with a raise of a brow. Arthur, however, shrank against Antonio.
Gilbert nodded. "Him. Project A. F. J. is mostly human." Vargas hummed, slightly more curious as well as Beilshmidt, but Antonio was flat out confused. "For the past month, I've been modifying him to be counted as technology. I've been testing his strength, his speed, his agility, all of it. He is over two dozen men combined. He can carry a truck that weighs several tons for over half an hour with only a single hand. His record in speed is so far seventy-nine miles per hour, but I have not tested him to his limits yet. He can easily dodge a bullet, matrix style!" Gilbert snickered, then cleared his throat as he noticed the several unimpressed expressions at the last comment. "Anyway, let me introduce you to your new agent. Well, not new agent, he already was an agent, but he died, and then I brought him back and- I'll just call him out now." Gilbert straightened up and looked at the door on the other side of the testing room where he knew his project was setting up. "Agent 304-4, report to General Vargas!"
Arthur shut his eyes and turned his head, but the other three men stood in shock at the familiarity of the number.
Alfred stepped out of the room and then moved over as smoothly as he had when Arthur had seen him earlier in the day. The Brit forced his eyes open and to look up at the American who saluted the General. "Agent Jones, reporting to General Vargas."
The three men stood with wide eyes, staring at Alfred. Gilbert gulped. "Alfred, smile and shake the General's hand."
So, Alfred did just that. He tilted his head and smiled kindly, holding up his hand for the General to shake. Almost hesitantly, General Vargas shook his hand.
Finally, Antonio was able to speak up. "How did... When... Gilbert, what the...?"
The Tech man cleared his throat. "He signed a contract allowing me to do this as well as several others. I chose him because his body was the most able and I owed him. He doesn't remember anything at all, but he acts more human than machine so he'll blend well with the crowd. I had patched up the hole in his chest and restarted his heart. Right now, he's running on electricity. It's shocking his heart and brain to keep functioning until they can function again on their own, which may be a long while. I used the hole created by the pole for the control of the electricity and for the charge. It's like a second heart. He also has wires circling around his major arteries and veins to keep up an easy blood flow an he has titanium laced with iron and aluminum plating his bones to make him more indestructible. I made sure the metal is light so he weighs only twenty pounds more than his original weight. His left eye was damaged, so I replaced it with a technological eye that he can see out of like you'd see in robot movies like terminator or some shit. He can easily detect knives or guns and can identify someone if he's seen their file. He has thermal scanner and night vision in this eye and it is balanced with his glasses, so he can see this way with both eyes. I improved his hearing and his sences." Gilbert raised a remote and pressed a button. Alfred tossed his arm around General Vargas and forced the larger, older man to duck as his other arm lashed out and caught a knife. "His reactions are impeccable. I'm sure that with Alfred back in the field, better than ever, we can easily bring this war to an end with as low casualties as possible. Alfred can and will save hundreds of people and will bring our enemies to their hands and knees."
Alfred stepped back, tucking the knife into his belt.
Vargas straightened himself. "Let's see what else Agent Jones can do."
Arthur bit down on his lip, curling his fingers around the back of Antonio's shirt as he watched Alfred shrug off his treasured Bomber jacket he had inherited from his grandfather. He carefully lay his jacket near the wall then stepped to the middle of the nearly empty, but slight damaged room.
"Alright, Jones. Let's show 'em what you're made of."
~
The five men were all huddled in the corner of the room near the exit as Alfred stood in the middle of room, surrounded by knifes, disarmed bombs, bullet shells, and broken guns. Alfred rolled his head to pop his neck, hardly a bead of sweat on his brow and not a breath out of place. Not a single scratch flawed his sun kissed skin.
General Vargas swallowed thickly. "How in the hell did you accomplish all of this in one month?"
Gilbert chuckled, picking up Alfred's leather bomber jacket. "Packed lunches from the wife, and the drive to pay back a friend. As you know, if it wasn't for Alfred, Ludwig wouldn't be standing here today."
Ludwig looked away. Antonio gulped. "Well, Beilshmidt... You don't have to worry about your job anymore," he muttered, straightening himself up. "When will Jones be able to start missions?"
"Anytime he is needed, but preferably after I finish updating his second heart so the charge will last longer. The longest this one lasts is twenty-four hours." Gilbert handed Alfred his jacket and then headed back to the other men. "But anytime he is needed." He opened the door and allowed them out.
Before they could exit the Lab completely, Gilbert called out, "Arthur! Could you stay back? I need to talk to you."
Arthur blinked, then stepped back to allow the other three to exit. Once the door shut, he looked at Gilbert. "What do you want?"
The albino sighed, scratching the back of his head. "I need you to help me with Alfred."
