Well, that certainly wasn't the answer I was expecting. Evan sat shaking in my arms as I processed his response.
" What do you mean? It can't possibly be your fault."
" But it is..."
" Evan, it was an accident..."
" All my fault.."
" Evan, there is no way that could possibly be your fault."
Evan was whispering so softly now that I couldn't hear him. I just sat there staring at him. Poor kid. He truly believed that he caused his parent's death...
" How is it your fault?"
Evan took a deep breath and waited a second before answering.
" When I was 12, I went to a sleepover at my friend's house. It was about 2:00 in the morning and I got sick. So sick I was throwing up. So naturally, I called my parents to come get me. They came and picked me up. As we were driving home, it started raining really hard. We were almost home when we hit a slick spot in the road. We spun out of control and then... we crashed. And just like that." Evan snapped his fingers . " They were gone."
" Evan, it was a car accident. You had nothing to do with it. It isn't your fault."
Evan snapped his head up and looked at me. He grabbed me by the shoulders and gently shook me.
" No. No, don't you see? I called them. The only reason they were out that night is because I called them.
" I should've just kept my mouth shut and not called, I should've-
I cut Evan off by pulling him into a fierce hug. His whole body was trembling with regret and hatred. Hatred for himself. Evan pulled back and I looked into his eyes. Really looked into his eyes. He had eyes color of the sea, bluish- green mixed with gray. His eyes held so much sorrow. So much beauty at the same time. " Did you dye your hair blue to match your eyes?" I questioned. I wanted to get his mind off his parents. He looked stunned and after a moment he smiled. It was a small ghost of a smile that disappeared as quick as it had come. But, I saw it. I knew he would be okay.

Evan had to stay in the medical ward overnight, just to make sure. I sat by him the entire time. As he was settling in to go to sleep he said
" Kyle, would you sing me a lullaby ?"
" What song do you want?"
" I don't care. You pick."
I thought for a few moments and when I decided on the song, I quietly sang-" Sink in anger, fountains forming, spill like thunder to what we're holding..."
I glanced at Evan and saw that he was fast asleep. I leaned closer and sang one final line softly in his ear
" Sleep forever now my darling..."
(A/N: Sorry it's taken me so long to update, I was having writers block. But I'm back now! I will also be posting chapter 7 sometime this week. The song in this chapter is called "Heaven's Calling" by Black Veil Brides)
