I walk to the bunk's door and open it. "Hey Joe, what are you doing here?"
"We need to talk about something," he says.
"Is it about tonight?"
"Yes, well no, well sort of."
I take a deep breath in, but before I can speak he talks again. Walker says, "Is there something going on with you and Joey? I saw the way he was looking at you before and then you kept smiling at him during your audition – which was amazing by the way – and then you just stayed and sat with him after. I sort of assumed we were going to be exclusive. I don't do open relationships, so if that's what you were planning on doing, then I'm out." He starts to walk back outside.
"Joe wait!" He turns back around and I continue talking. "If I tell you something, can you promise not to tell anyone? Especially Joey?"
"Of course," he says as we sit down on the girls' bed I just made.
I take a deep breath in and say, "So basically when I was a camper here, Jaime and Joey were horrible to me. Every summer was miserable but I kept convincing myself that it wasn't and I just kept coming back. When Joey asked me out, I didn't know what to do. I talked to Meredith and she came up with a plan for revenge. I was going to tell you tonight."
He smiles and says, "So you don't like Joey?"
"I barely like him as a person."
"So, what is this revenge plan? And can I help?" He asks.
"That's it? You're just going to go along with it? You don't even want to know what he did?"
"Nope. Look Lauren, you're amazing. You're so beautiful and kind and funny and if you need revenge on Joey, then I want to be here to help you."
I smile and say, "thank you. So far, the only plan is for me to date Joey and then break his heart. We don't have anything else but I feel like we might need more."
"We could do a prank war."
"What good will that do?"
"Okay so Joey's bunk is the other one in my bunkhouse. We can do a prank war between our bunkhouse and your bunkhouse. When we do the prank war, we can make sure that Joey's stuff gets the worst of it. We could plant some alcohol in his bag or something. We're not supposed to have any in the bunks so it would be perfect. You could say that you found it and confront him on it. Or maybe just go to the owners."
"I don't know, I mean Joey has done some bad things, but I don't think its worth getting him fired over."
"Okay, that's fine. I'm full of ideas."
I laugh and say, "Give me another one then."
"Okay so we wait a few weeks and you and Joey start getting a little 'serious'. And then one night, you'll take him up to the staff lounge and one thing will lead to another and you'll get Joey naked, and I'll steal his clothes and then you'll have to leave and he'll be stuck there naked."
"That's actually a good idea. Except I'm not actually going to sleep with Joey."
Walker sighs in relief and nervously says, "So how do I really fit into all of this?"
"We could still date," I say and he smiles. "I still want to date you, but for this to work, it would have to be in secret. We can still go on our date tonight. I'll just tell Joey that it didn't work out and you and I agreed to be friends."
He smiles and says, "That works for me. I should probably go help unpack my bunk."
I smile back and say, "bye Joe."
He says, "bye Lauren," and walks outside.
