Listen to Your Heart

Chapter 14

         A few hours passes and my phone starts to ring. I pick it up and say, "hello?"

"Hey Lauren, I just finished my audition and everyone was going to head up to lunch together. Do you wanna meet us there?" Julia asks.

"Sounds good. I'll see you soon," I say and then I hang up the phone and walk up to the dining hall.

When I get to a dining hall, I see almost all of my friends already sitting at a table. I sit down in an empty seat in-between Meredith and Julia. Nick starts talking, "okay good we're all here now. Matt and I talked after the auditions and we've decided the parts. We can tell them to you guys now and then after lunch we can start rehearsals. The scripts are in the theater."

"That sounds good to me. So Nick do you want to read out the parts or should I?" Matt asks.

Before Nick can respond, Denise screams in joy. A guy with brownish-blond hair walks in and Denise runs up to him and hugs him. They kiss and Meredith say, "That must be Dylan. Denise has been so excited to see him."

Denise and Dylan sit down and Dylan says, "Hey guys, so I heard we're doing a musical."

"Yeah," Nick says. "We we're actually just about to tell everyone who they're playing." He takes a deep breath in and starts talking. "Joey you're Bug. Walker you're Commander Up. Lauren is Taz and Bugette. Dylan you're Tootsie Noodles and Pincer."

"What the hell kind of name is Tootsie Noodles?" Dylan asks.

"He's a starship ranger who's kind of dumb, on his planet, your first name is what you do, and your second name is what you love. So tootsie toots a lot and loves noodles," Matt says.

"Darren do you want to read the rest?" Nick asks.

"Sure," Darren says. "Denise is February, Brian is Junior and Veeto Mosquito, Meredith is Mega-Girl, Julia is Specs, Brant is Roach, Jim is the Overqueen and Sweetheart Mosquito, JoMo is Krayonder, Jaime is Neato Mosquito, and Nick is the Caller Bug and Mister Bug. I hope you remember what I said because I really don't want to say that again."

I smile because I'm really happy that I get to play Taz. My phone buzzes and I look down at it. I have one text from Walker.

Walker: looks like we'll be playing a couple

Lauren: what do you mean?

Walker: Taz and Up... well they're not a couple for the whole show, but in the scene I read with Joey, Up is talking to Bug about how he really likes Taz and I think they get together by the end of the show.

Lauren: well I guess we're playing a couple then

Meredith catches me on my phone and says, "What are you smiling at?"

I say, "nothing," lock my phone, and put it away.

We continue eating and making general chit chat for the rest of lunch.
