The Circle

Cassie POV

I get to the Abandoned house around five in the morning. I waited a while but didn't mind because I had to think this through. The first to arrive were Diana and, I think his name is Adam. Then slowly the others came. "Ok, this is everyone. So now what?" one called Melissa asked. "Diana talked to me and I saw not all of you can control your magic." I say and look at Faye. She rolled her eyes and  sighed. "And, I know being in a circle can help with control. But I want nothing to do with magic." I say and Faye cuts me off. "You brought all of us here just to tell us you are scared of power?"

 I glared at her, then continued what I was saying to the group. "Diana has explained how long you all have been looking for the sixth member. I decided I will join your circle, but I will not be in your group." I explain looking to Diana. Everyone looks at each other. "Or you could just leave me alone and I wont join your circle." I say standing up. "Wait!"  Diana says but Faye immediately disagrees. "No, let her go if she wants to leave. We don't need her." "Faye! you nearly killed us with that stupid storm, You are proof of us losing control." Diana says and turns to me. "Ok, We bind the circle tonight."

Later That Night

Diana POV

Everyone is here and gathering the supplies. Jake throws down some wood and everyone gathers around. "Air Around Me, Grant me Fire." Jake says and the logs go up in flames. "Seriously Jake?" Adam says and Jake shrugs. "Ok. Form a circle around the fire." I say and get my book out. "Fire, Earth, Metal, Air, Water and Blood. By these elements, we bind the circle, and follow in the steps of our ancestors; who pledge themselves to fight against the forces of darkness." I look up for a second to see Cassie flinch a little. "When evil assails us, when fear weakens us, when descent threatens us, in the circle we will find power. We come to this place alone, but leave bound as one. With this oath, our journey begins together. Do you all accept the circle?" I ask and everyone speaks as one. "I accept."

Everyone looks at me and I nod my head. "I feel no different." Jake says "Don't tell me we wasted our time." Faye says. "It worked. Now I'm leaving." Cassie says and Faye steps in front of her. "Hold up a sec. How do you know it worked?" She asked and Cassie smiled "Find out yourself." Cassie says and walks away. "Faye, it worked. I did it exactly how it was suppose to be done." I tell her and she shakes her head, walking away. I look towards the direction Cassie had gone and Can faintly see her. "Hey Adam, ill see you tomorrow." I say giving him a peck on the cheek before heading after Cassie.

Cassie POV

I walk up to my house and stop at the door. I hear footsteps and turn around crossing  my arms. "Stop." I say and Diana stops walking. "I just wanted to say thank you." "And why couldn't you do that in school?" "Because you would just ignore me and I wouldn't get a chance." She says and I smile. "Yeah, that's true." I say and sit on the porch. "You alright?" Diana asks motioning to my hands. I was gripping the edge of the step. "Uh, yeah I'm fine." I say and she sits beside me.

"Are you sure? You looked uncomfortable when we bound the circle." She asks. When I don't say anything she asks "You knew it worked right away. How did you know that?" I sigh, thinking back to my mom. "When my mom found out I knew about my powers, she began to tell me that they are a gift, but they were not to be overused or abused. She's the one who taught me to control them. She taught me all that she knew." I say looking at Diana. "I don't know why I'm telling you this. Um, I need to get inside." I say and as soon as I stood up my Grandma opens the door.
