“Wake her!” Auntie screamed.
I opened my eyes to a glaring Brianna. “Whaaa?” I began.
“You need to wake up. We have no breakfast!!” She screamed.
“Ok. Sorry.”
“Yeah, you should be. Every day you are supposed to make breakfast. How many times do I have to ask you to do it on time???”
You know, at this point I felt like screaming out loud. I hated Brianna, and I hated Aunt Carly, and possibly even Sarah. “Stop putting so much pressure on me! I never am late in making breakfast! Your mom should be the one making the meals, not me!” I screamed. Without looking at her expression, I ran to the kitchen, slammed all of the drawers open and started meshing things together. I cooked raw eggs as fast as I could and put them on the table for the family. I headed upstairs to grab money to get myself some breakfast. I ran down the stairs and said lastly to Carly, “I’m not your cook!” With that, I continued out the garage and into the car.
I drove to I-hop and ate waffles. This was probably one of the best breakfasts ever. There were so many families here that I couldn’t stay for very long without bursting into tears. Immediately I signed the check with cash and gave it to the waiter. “Thank you,” I said fake-smiling and rushed to the car. I headed for home. Immediately after entering the car I finally burst into tears.
When I reached home, I parked the car in the garage and stayed there.
Not hearing from my friends for days, I took out my iPod touch and called Hanna.
"Hello?” She answered the call.
“Hi! This is Ash!” I greeted as cheerfully as I could.
“Oh! Hey, I was meaning to call you since I haven’t heard from you for a few days! How are you?”
“I’m okay, I guess.” I lied.
“Are you sure?” She asked seriously. Normally, I really wasn’t.
“No.” I said reluctantly. “I think- think- well this may not be true, and you may not believe me, but-“
“Ashlyn, I will believe you.” She assured me.
“I don’t think Aunt Carly is my aunt.”
"Well, I’m not sure exactly. You look nothing the same, you hate each other, and your personalities aren’t similar. You have a British accent that none of your family shares-” She paused.
I slapped my face. It sounded so stupid and child-like. I was not a child.
“I don’t know…” Hanna started.
I knew she wouldn’t believe me. As quietly as I could, I started to sob.
“I think you’re just sleepy. Come to my apartment. You can get away from your family.”
“I don’t know. I don’t know where I want to go.” I said.
“Just, come. You are welcome to my apartment.” She said sweetly, “Here, I’ll pick you up. See you soon.” She said it like I was being forced.
I pressed “END” on my cell phone.
A few minutes later a black van pulled up the driveway. “Hop in,” Hanna ordered. I sat in the passenger seat.
