One again we're travelling in another car, the boys were all in their own conversations which led me to once again stare out the slightly open window. My hair gently flying out of its original place.
Everything in California's so colourful and happy. Even the palm trees look happy if that makes any sense. I already feel out of place with my tatty dark coloured clothes and makeup-less face. The car whizzed past hundreds of stores and malls and a large green park with a small playground in the center. Even the girls my age are caked in makeup and barley wearing any clothing!
"How are ya liking Cali?" Johnson asked me from the middle seat. I just nodded my head and continued to stare out the window, "why are there so many starbucks stores?" a small eruption of laughter filled the car, especially the manager guy. His laugh- well it wasn't really laughing, it was snorting- was louder and deeper than the rest of the boys.
"Kid, starbucks coffee is basically heaven in earth. Expensive but God like" the magcon manger snorted from the front seat.
"Cant you just get your coffee from a café or something. Or make it yourself?" Its just coffee right? It cant be heaven on earth.Aaron laughed and turned to me, "Say coffee again" he smiled, I cocked up my eyebrow.
"Coffee?" he chuckled, "I love how you say it, do it again""No, why do you like the word coffee?"
"You sound like one of those New York gangsters when you say coffee" No I don't. Do I?"I don't hear it" I mumbled through the thin laughter of the boys mimicking how I talked. I rolled my eyes and slouched down in my seat, averting my eyes back to the bright window.
What if people here make fun of my so called 'accent'? Should that bother me?
As I continued to go deeper in thought I didn't notice that the car was puling up into the Californian suburbs. Suddenly the car stopped and I was flung into the back of the seat in front of me. I gasped loudly as my body made contact with the sun touched material and then the hard cold and slim car floor. I groaned as everyone else in the car once again started laughing and staring at my now agitated self.
"And that's why we have seatbelts Kye" Shawn chuckled and grabbed my waist. Pulling me up onto the seats once again. I cupped the crook of my neck with my hand. "Ugh, why did the car stop?"
"We're here" my eyes widened as I the boys piled out the car and toward the huge house before me. "Is this where..."
"Yep, she's in there waiting for you" I gulped and gripped onto the edge of the seat.
"Kylie you don't have to go in there" Shawn stroked my tense shoulder."No. I want to see her" I spat as I glared at the door of the house. I felt my confidence rise dramatically as I got out the car and into the warm air. If anything she should be scared to see me! Not the other way round. I'm not thirteen anymore and I know how to fight.
I'm from New Jersey for fucks sake! That's my home and my home rubbed off on me! Why should I be worried?
I confidently walked up the path toward the door with my light black suitcase trailing behind me. Making a small humming noise against the pavement.
"Can you lot wait in the other room. This is family personal" I heard Cameron mumble to the boys as I walked past them and to the open door. I picked the suitcase with ease to the inside of the air conditioned house and into a huge hallway with the sympathetic looking boys following behind me.
I heard humming coming from a open room. Without hesitation I walked into the door less room to see her sitting there looking down at her polished nails. Humming a tune to herself.
I cleared my throat and her stare darted to me, her overdone makeup shining in the natural sunlight.
She stood up at the look at me and gasped."Kylie?"
"Gina"
