I jogged through the entrance of the park on the look out for the dark haired girl I met earlier. I ran further through the park passing the yellow light of the street lamps. Soon enough I saw a dark figure sitting on top of a bench, playing with her long wavy hair. I started to slower my pace the closer I got to her, she turned around at the sound of my footsteps. "I said in ten not in ten thousand" the corner of her lip curled into a smirk before lifting both legs over the top of the bench and stepping down. She was wearing exactly what she was wearing before just like me expect she had a black slightly oversized bomber jacket with white strips on the hems on the neck, hands and waist.

"Follow me and try to keep up Jersey girl" she gave a devilish smirk before sprinting off into the distance. I followed her, swerving in and out of the trees avoiding the main street where few cars were going past.

"Fuck you run fast" I called after her
"Try to keep up babe" she chuckled before reaching a concrete wall right at the edge of the park. We both stopped, she cupped her hands and beckoned for me.

"I'll give you a leg up" I smirked and took a step on her hands and I took hold on top of the wall. She gave my leg a push up which allowed me to get over the wall and land on a lid of a dumpster with a loud bang.

"Take a running jump" I said down to her. As she backed up I leaned my stomach on the top of the wall and dangled my hands for her to catch and grab a hold of. Which she did. I hauled her over, both if us laughing for no real reason.

"That was a first" I admitting, both of us jumping from the dumpster and onto the cracked pavement. The only light was the dim moon.

"Get used to it partner in crime" she brought her hand out for me to shake. I've never really had a partner before, I like working alone on the streets but I do like her. She's like me but with a different accent and ethnicity. I smirked and shook her hand. This will be interesting.

"Come on we gotta go. Too much shit to do" and with that she grabbed my hand and led me through a maze of almost pitch black alleyways.

As we went in deeper I couldn't help but realise that all these confined spaces, the toppled over garbage cans, the spray paint and the broken beer bottles on the floor and empty cigarette packets reminded me of home. I fully snapped back into reality to see Abi running in front of me, her jacket and hair flowing behind her.

I looked around. We were in a thin, abandoned street. There were long brick buildings with smashed glass or none at all. Spray paint was sprawled everywhere and the small hum of music was evident. We turned the corner and stopped in front of a broken black door and a few concrete steps leading to it.
"Welcome to the Rooftop" she gestured towards the door as she opened it with ease. The bass of music suddenly got louder and the thick smell of heavy smoke went through my nose which made me cough slightly.
It was an empty building with a few people smoking hell knows what in the corner and some next to a small speaker spitting bars. I turned to the other side of the room to see a few spray painting the inner wall.

"Cool" I said as I followed Abi towards broken looking stairs. "Yeh, but this place is on the down low, so don't go telling whoever you live with" I quietly snorted at the thought. The guys couldn't even handle Mario so there isn't a way in hell I'm going to tell them about this abandoned part of Cali.

We carried on waling up the endless stairs, passing a few more people who were on different levels or sitting on the stairs. As we passed an entrance to another floor I noticed a vacant boxing ring. I smirked to myself.
"Up here" we both walked an extra flight up to a padlocked metal door. Abi tried to force open the door but the locks stopped her, she groaned in annoyance which made me chuckle

I went into my pocket and took out a broken pin and kneeled down to pick the lock. A few minutes of talking and picking a lock later there was a loud click and a bang as the heavy metal lock fell against the floor.

I pushed the door open to reveal the night sky and a cool breeze that whooshed my hair back slightly. Walking past the door and onto the rooftop made me remember the day I climbed that scaffolding. My smile quickly turned into a frown as i remembered all the stuff that happened afterwards.

Nope. That wont ruin this. I walked further onto the roof towards the edge. Both sides of the building were cornered with two other shorter buildings. We could have jumped down off the side and land ontop of another building. I leaned against the edge of the building to see the bright lights of California far into the distance. The many lights turned into less as they got closer to where I was standing until there was only one light.

Its so beautiful...

.   .   .

The Rooftop was one of many stops tonight. After a while of sitting on the roof we went back down and ran all over the streets of California. Getting to know it and stuff. It was honestly one of the best nights I've had in a while.
