I need to point something out. In the girlxboy version of this book, Calum would be in this part, but since he is the main character replacing Scarlet, I put a new character placing Calum named Ryder. I wanted to let everyone know this.

Chapter Six: Not Edited

The rest of lunch was somewhat boring without Ashton being there with me but things happen for a reason. I shuffled my feet down the hallway and brought my bookbag closer to my body as I stopped in front of my locker. I didn't see any notes in my organized locker which made me let out a sigh of relief because I needed a small break from them. The final bell rung loudly and it signaled that the school day was finally over, making me let out a even bigger sigh of relief.

"You okay there?" A warm, yet gentle voice asked behind me. I turned to see a tan boy with brown hair and brown eyes looking at me with warmth and friendless in his eyes. I looked up at him closely and recognized him as Ryder Miller. The boy is a apart of the football team but also in Luke's social group which made me surprised that Luke would actually socialize himself with the jocks.

"I'm fine. Why do you ask?" I looked at him through my framed glasses. Pushing my glasses closer to my face as I waited for a answer from the tan boy with a straight face.

"No reason. You just seemed stressed in my opinion." He said and that's when I finally noticed he was holding some piece of paper in his left hand which made me start to furrow my eyebrows in question.

"What's with the piece of paper?" I asked, making him look down at his left hand and back up at me with a smile on his face.

"Um, you know Ashton Irwin, right?" Ryder asked me and I nodded which made him let out a sigh of relief. "He asked me to give you this note because he had to leave school suddenly." The tan boy told me which made me nod because I remembered the note on the lunch table that he left for me.

"Thank you." I said, grabbing the note when he handed it to me. "Do you know where he went off to? I know he went off with his stepbrother but I was just curious on where."

"No, I don't. He said something about a job that he needed to get to." Ryder told me and his smile never left his face which kind of started to creep me out. We sat there just looking at each other before a familiar blue dyed hair boy walked up to us and placed his hand on the tan boy's shoulder. I knew it was Luke so I took my eyes somewhere else and looked in the other direction so that the boy wouldn't shout at me for looking at him weirdly.

"Calum." I turned my attention back to Ryder to who looked concern while Luke looked bored as usual. "Are you okay? You have been acting strange lately and it has been worrying me."

What? He never talked to me before and now he is suddenly worried about me? Where are the cameras hiding? Am I on some reality show that starts in schools? My confirmation was suddenly revealed when Luke started to whisper in Ryder's ear and his face paled.

"That sounded very weird since this is the first time we talked to face to face but I seen you around your friends and you seem different now." Ryder said as I watched him glare at Luke who was trying to hold back a laugh. I knew he was trying to hold it in because he was biting his lip with a smile on his face.

I rolled my eyes and gave Ryder a fake smile because I didn't know if he was trying to be nice or play a joke on me but whatever he was doing I wasn't having it. "It's okay but thank you for looking out for me."

Ryder eye's lit up at the sound of my voice and a smile appeared on his face and that sight made the blue dyed boy next to him scoff in disbelief. "Chill out Luke." I glared at him because I had enough of his attitude.

"Don't even start with me Hood." Luke gritted his teeth and his eyes shown pure annoyance that was directed towards me. "Just go Luke before you do something you will regret." With that Ryder and I watched Luke stomp off to the place he usually hangs out with his friends.

"Sorry about him. He has a tendency to act like this towards people he isn't used to being around." Ryder apologized for his short tempered friend who was finally out of sight.

"It's fine I'm used to him." I said, grabbing some of my books so that I could head home for the day. "I mean I used to be friends with him when I was a Freshman."

"You were friends with him?" Ryder questioned with shock in his warm voice.  "Not to be rude or anything but you don't seem like the type of guy to hang out with him."

"Let's just say he changed and not in the good way either." I said, slamming my locker and turning around to look at the tan boy. "I don't really have time to talk about this. I'm meeting a friend soon and I don't want to be late."

"Can I get your number and maybe we could hang out sometime?" Ryder asked me, hoping I would say yes.

"Sure. Why not?" I shrugged, pulling out my phone and giving it to Ryder so he can put his number in my contact list. I watched Ryder type his number in my phone and I heard a ding go off as he texted his phone from mine.

"I will text you." Ryder smiled as he gave me a curt nod before walking off where Luke went to.
