Here I go. First day back. Though the atmosphere was different. The last few years I attended Velvet High, I would be the barely noticeable one. I mean every student in my school wouldn't be staring at me right now as if I won a beauty pageant. Should I wave my hands like a beauty queen? Seriously, what's up with the staring. Oh and some of the girls didn't look too impressed either as if I stole their beauty queen crown. I would just normally walk past them and no one would notice me at all.

Kate appeared by my side. 'Hey Miss Popular. The news has spread just as fast as Mr Haywire's disappearance.' I forgot about the deal with him. 'Yeah. What type of news is it that the whole student body has to stare at me.' 'Gosh! I get your forgetful all the time. But you can't be on this one.' 'What?' 'Josh Sanders? The party you were at. Everyone knows you were invited.' 'Oh. So it's just a party.' Kate rolled her eyes. 'Well it isn't just a party. But an invitation to one of most popular groups in our school party. Your practically VIP. And the fact that you managed to get it.' 'Kate. It's not like I wanted to be. He asked, so I said it's okay. Anyway I'll find a way to deal with it. But let's go look at our timetables.'

We collected our timetables from the main desk and scrolled though our subjects and periods. 'Great I have Chemistry the next two periods. Really on a monday morning.' 'I have biology. Literature. And then English last period.' 'Yes I'm only in your Lit class. Though your replacement teacher for English is also taking up literature as well.' 'Really? I've been wondering all holidays who it could be. Probably another oldie like Mr Haywire who has been teaching this subject for years.'Hmm, it would be nice to have eye candy for sometime apart from Josh and his crew.' 'Yeah I highly doubt that's going to happen.' 'You can't stop me from dreaming.' 'I must admit the idea doesn't sound too bad Kate.' We both giggled.

While I had biology, Kate was stuck in Chemistry with Bianca. I had Sam in my class who I met at the party. He gave me a warm smile when I entered room A3. A block was the science section. He had saved a spot next to him as I kindly accepted.

He leaned over to me. 'Josh passed on a invite to join our table in the cafeteria.' Great I used to always hang out in the library during lunch-breaks while Kate was with some other girls. She tried to drag me out many times to "socialise" with people. But her efforts always went in vain. I preferred the library, silence and books off course. Though this year was churning out to be different. 'Sure.' I smiled at him. Oh god when was the last time I even faced the cafeteria.

The first two periods went by like a flash. It was just the usual basic introduction to the subject, while I fidgeted around with my multicolored ball point pen. Instead of paying attention to my teacher Mrs Hannibal. I was dwelling upon the events that occured over the Christmas break. Hunter would flash by in my memory as I scribbled his name on my book in oblivion.

There was a small break before the next set of period 3 & 4. I walked up to my locker and protruded out my things for my next class. Literature. This is where I was going to meet my new teacher. I put my lock into place till I met a couple of smiling girls that surrounded me. It wasn't Bianca's posse but some random faces I never bothered to look at. 'Hi. How may I help you.' 'Your Josh's new girlfriend right.' 'Girlfriend? Uh. No. We just met.' 'Oh. It doesn't matter. But you know Josh right. The Josh Sanders.' 'Yeah. Briefly. Like I said we just met.' 'Hi I'm Sarah.' She protruded out her hand. These girls would have never offered me friendship in the first place if it wasn't for Josh. 'Hi I'm Ro..' 'Rose. We know.' 'Off course you do.' The other girls were Lea, Tinashe and Jess. 'So what do you have next?' 'Literature.' 'Oh I take Lit too. I'll drop you on the way.' 'Yeah ok.' Sarah bid her friends bye who were awkwardly gwaking at me like I was some sort of celebrity. I waved them off. I wasn't honestly used to this over friendliness. She walked with me to our next class. 'What other subjects do you take?' 'Lit, English, Biology, Geometry, P.E. I am into sports as well.' 'Wow. Your so talented. I heard you got great grades last year. Plus you are a fantastic badminton player. You were almost selected to play against other schools.' 'Uhh thanks. But have you been researching me.' 'Kinda. Though it's strange. I haven't really noticed you before. No one has recently. Till Josh invited you and the whole female population of the school were eager to know who Rose was. I must say people have feigned interest in you.' 'Thanks. But I really don't strive for all of this attention. It's sometimes really unnecessary. If you honestly want to be friends with me just because Josh invited me to his party, please I'm not in the mood for any fake friends. This is why I haven't been noticed up till now. I like to stay away from people and their drama.' I wanted this Sarah to get the point. 'Oh. No. I know it may come across like that. Me being this desperate self-seeking girl. But you seem like a great girl. I genuinely want to extend my hand.' 'Really?' I didn't look convinced. 'Yeah I've heard quite a bit about you. I know your normally away from the social eye, but that doesn't mean your achievements are not boasted about across the hallway.' I sat down at the back as usual to be occupied the next seat with Sarah who was thriving to convince me of her true intentions. I nodded my head. While Sarah seemed depleted by the rejection.
