My Little Hunchback Of Notre Dame

Prologue

In the land of Equestria, a band of earth ponies were quietly proceeding down the road, hoping to avoid dectection. A baby on an female earth pony's back began to cry. "Shut it up will you?!" Big Mac, leader of the band of earth ponies said. "We'll be spoted!" Bareburn said in fear. "Hush little one." Cheerilee whispered to the baby dragon. They arrived at their destination a few moments later, and the earth pony named Mr. Cake who was waiting for them said "Four gilders for safe passage into Ponyville." But then, a unicorn's magic blasted Mr. Cake's hat clean off, and unicorn, and pegasai pony guards surrounded the band of earth ponies. "Judge Discord." Big Mac muttered in fear as Discord, a creature with a head of a pony, with yellowish red eyes, a deer antler on the right, a blue goat horn on the left, one long fang, a snake tounge, a goat beard, white bushy eyebrows, a right arm of a lion, a left claw of an eagle, a right leg of a lizard, a left leg of a goat, a bat's right wing, a pegasus' left wing, a horse's mane, and a dragon-like snake's tail with a white tail tuft approached and glared at the earth ponies with hatred in his eyes.

He then gave the word to arrest the earth ponies. "Bring these earth pony vermin to the Palace of Justice." Discord said as the earth ponies were dragged away. "You there! What are you hiding?!?!" a pegasai pony guard named Bulk Biceps asked as he looked at Cheerliee more closely "Stolen goods, no doubt. Discord said as he glared at the earth pony. "Take them from her!" Cheerliee gasped in fear, and immediately made a run for it with Discord hot on her tail. She ran until she arrived to Canterlot and the Canterlot Church & Bell Tower. She knocked on the big door and shouted "Sanctuary! Please give us sanctuary!" Just then, Discord showed up again. Cheerliee tried to run again but Discord was too quick and grabbed at the bundle on her back. Cheerliee tried to take her bundle back, but Discord quickly lost his temper, and kicked the earth pony. She stumbled and fell on the stairs as her neck snapped on impact killing her instantly.

Discord then heard crying and then he realized that it came from the bundle that he thought was stolen goods that he tried to take away from the dead earth pony. "A baby?" Discord said unrwapping the bundle, only to find a purple and green dragon in the white blanket. Discord gasped in fear and said "A monster!" He wrapped the baby dragon looked around and spotted a well near by. He went up to the well, lifted the baby dragon above the water, and prepared to drop him into the well. "STOP!!" a pale, light grayish gold coated pegasai pony with a pale, light grayish rose mane, moderate cyan eyes, and three pink butterflies for her cutie mark named Fluttershy who was the priestess of the Canterlot Church & Bell Tower cried out before Discord had the chance to drop the baby dragon into the well.

"This is an unholy demon!" Discord said as he held the baby dragon back from the well. "I'm sending it back to hell, where it belongs!" "You will not kill that baby dragon!" Fluttershy said in anger as she looked at the corpse of the dead pony mother. "You already spilled enough innocent blood on the steps of the Canterlot Church & Bell Tower already." Discord scoffed and said "I am guiltless. She ran, I pursued." "You are not guiltless." Fluttershy said. "Now you would add this baby dragon's blood to your guilt!" "My conscience is clear!" Discord said. Fluttershy shook her head and said "You can lie to yourself and your minions, but you can never hide what you did from the eyes watching us all!" Discord looked behind him to see pony gargoyles and statues seemingly staring at him, and that's when he felt a twinge of fear for his immortal soul.

"What must I do?" Discord asked as Fluttershy picked up the dead earth pony on her back. "Care for the dragon, and raise it as your own." Fluttershy said. Discord looked at the priestess pony in shock and disgust, and said "What?! I'm to be saddled with this scaly--!" Discord then calmed down and said "Very well. But let him live with you in your church." Fluttershy tilted her head in confusion and said "In here? Where?" "Anywhere." Discord said as he looked at the bell tower. "Just so he's kept locked away where nopony else can see. The bell tower perhaps, and who knows..our savior works in mysterious ways." He then looked at the sleeping baby dragon, smirked, and said "Even this foul dragon may yet prove one day to be of use to me." And so, Discord took the baby dragon in and gave him a name to match his dragon form: Spike. For twenty years, Spike lived in the bell tower, forbidden from ever leaving it. And that's where our story begins.
