chapter 7

  (Aspens pov)

"Heyyyyyyyy Aspen wakkkkkkeee uppppp!" A voice whispered right next to my ear I flinch and punched whoever was there still keeping my eye closed. They stumbled back a bit but then started laughing, "wow good aim Aspen!" they said in a deep voice indicating but still cheerful. I sighed and opened my eyes seeing Toby standing near me wiping blood from his nose I bit my lip realizing I hit him that hard. He notice my reaction and put his hand on my head and ruffled my fur twitching here and there."Don't worry Aspen I can't feel pain" I nodded and sat up before looking at the clock seeing if was 3:00am in the morning. I quickly turned back to Toby who was standing there with a happy face and full away in pitch blackness luckily I can see in the dark, "Toby why did you wake me up so early?" I asked pushing away the covers and sitting up. He didn't say anything as he walked across the room and flipped on the light showing a whole different room from the one I had yesterday "Well once you came back with LJ you came into the room without realizing Ben was still here" he chuckled. "But that's not why I came here......I want to know if you want to make Waffles with me?!" he said doing a twitch. I hummed not exactly knowing what waffles were "sure I guess...." I said now getting his full attention."Yes!....I'll meet you downstairs!" He called out before leaving the room closing the door behind him I sighed and pulled myself out of bed. I quickly took off my jacket and switched my clothes to a grey sweater and black pants. After I changed I put my jacket back on and walked out the door it didn't really matter if I brushed my fur or not, someone would mess it up eventually so it didn't really matter I just hummed and started walking towards the hall. The first room I stopped at was the living room I peeked in seeing no one was around so I just headed to the kitchen where the sound of pans and pots banged one another making my ears hurt. I hissed and turned into the kitchen seeing Toby twitching still dropping the pans back to the floor once he grabs them.

I helped him and placed them on some shiny thing he nodded a thanks and walked over to the fridge and pulled out multiple different foods placing them on the counter. I tilted my head as I watched him as my head filled with curiosity, "Toby what are you doing?" I asked myself but accident saying it out loud instead. The teen pulled the mouthguard from his face showing a wound on the side of his face but he was smiling, "Well we're making waffles.....you do know what those are tho right?" He said twitching. I did a nervous laugh and bit my lip as I shook my head no to the teen I watched as he stood there and gave me a surprised look, "ok....then.....well once we're done you'll see what waffles are or pancakes we can make both" he said still trying to be cheerful. I nodded and walked over to him waiting for some kind of instructions, "ok first.....uh well you need to take your jacket off unless you would rather risk getting batter on it" he said pushing the sleeve of his own jacket up to his elbows. Sadly the way the fabrics is on the jacket my only choice was to take off my jacket which really wouldn't be a problem because I had a sweater on underneath. I just nodded and took off my jacket placing it on the counter behind me where the pantry was. "Ok first get a bowl and pour the mix into the bowl with two eggs" Toby said turning and grabbing a box and handing it to me "you can open this as I get the eggs" I nodded and opened the box not realizing inside was a bag till my popped the bag sending powder into the air at me. Toby chuckled and started cracking eggs into a different bowl I just rolled my eyes and poured the power into the bowl I had.

Not long after Toby added the eggs and other ingredients and then handed me a large wooden spoon. "Here you can mix as I heet up the stove he twitched and placed the spoon in the bowl before leaving I curiously placed the bowl on the counter and started mixing the the stuff watching it change color and texture but I guess you can say it was kind of fun.

(Toby's pov)

I set the waffle mold on the counter and turned to Aspen seeing her calmly mixing the waffle mix slowly eyeing it here and there. I couldn't help but do a small laugh but not loud enough for her to hear me as she stuck her finger into the yellowish mix tasting it instantly not liking it and trying desperately to get it off her claw. I smiled and heated up the pans it actually pretty cool to have a new waffle buddy that actually wants to help me. I stopped and looked over at her, "Hey Aspen do you find me annoying at all?" I asked twitching I couldn't help but ask because masky finds me annoying as heck. She stopped mixing the ingredients and did a faint smile, "sorry Toby I would answer that but my lack of intelligence.....well yea" I nodded and grabbed the bowl from her, "well annoying means something that's horrible,you can't stand,can't be around stuff like that" she nodded and tilted her head "well ok......I'll have to say no then you're cool and nice". Suddenly once she finish what she was saying I felt heat rise to my face I twitched and pulled up my mouthguard "was I blushing?" I asked myself as I drifted off into space in my mind. after a couple of seconds I realized someone was poking me in the shoulder I twitched and looked up seeing Aspen with a worried face, "are you ok Toby?" I just quickly nodded and walked over to the stove. "yeah I'm fine....come over here so I can teach you how to cook them!" I said keeping my cheerful tone she hesitated but nodded.

(Aspen's pov)

I walked over to Toby and stood next to him and watched as he poured the batter into the molds and in some of the pans. "ok first we wait till they cook" I nodded and watched as he walked over to one of many drawers and pulled out to stick things with a square at the end before handing one to me. "Ok next we flip them" I carefully watched as he slided one of the square stick thing under the half cooked batter and quickly flipped it making a perfect even circle thing he called a pancake which now had a nice golden brown look to it. He moved aside and signaled me to come over next to him I nodded once again and stood next to him as he instantly grabbed my hand making me tense to his touch he smiled "Don't worry just calm down I'm going to teach you" I just bit my lip and loosened my muscles.

After about 15minutes we manage to make enough pancakes and waffles for everyone in the mansion just a few hitting the trash when flipping them. It was about 4am now Toby says everyone is usually up by 4;15...why? I don't know but at least the cooking is done. I smiled realizing I didn't get any batter or really anything on me...well Toby really got into it and got it all over himself, not long after we finished cleaning the small sound of static fill the air making me pull down my ears as the sound ringed in my ears. "Morning children..." I turned to my right seeing slenderman standing near me with a calm expression "Morning Slender" I said cheerfully as Toby twitched as he stood next to me.

Slenderman look over at the stove seeing the stack of food and chuckled "I see Toby had you on your feet this morning....I'll go wake the others" he said before teleporting away. I grabbed my jacket and placed it back on feeling the warmth from inside making me feel safe for some reason but I enjoyed it. I walked out of the kitchen and into the dining room and sat down in a random seat looking at all the choices I could put on top of my pancake or waffles Strawberries, blueberries, chocolate, butter, peanut butter, and kidney's? I just shrugged and watch everyone gather in the room I couldn't help but think on how safe I felt with a bunch of killers and yet it felt normal.
