A couple years passed and everything I did seemed to fade from Tony's mind. His smile grew wider as he met a boy who would treat him how he should've been treated all along, the little tiara place upon his head was clear to see.
The boy he met would soon grow to be the reason Tony's eyes sparkled, the reason Tony sleeps soundly at night and finally, the reason Tony had a ring on his finger.
I sat back and watched as I became a distant memory. I watched my brother get married and now, my best friend. I helped him pick out his suit and saw tears well up in his eyes as he glanced down at his ring. "Thank you, Mikey." He whispers, hugging my torso tightly. His tears dripping into my neck making me shiver, I hugged him back; tears also making there way down my cheeks. I was losing Tony, forever.
--
I stood as Tony's best man at his wedding, my knees buckling and I glanced back to my older brother who smiles towards me. My brain was filled with buzzing thoughts as I looked over at his fiancé, my mouth wanting to spew words at him, I wanted him to leave. The ceremony started and everyone stood up to watch Tony be accompanied by his mother down the aisle, his suit pressing tightly to his torso. His smile bright and hair slicked hair pushed up into a quiff, I felt tears prick my eyes, but I did everything I could to hold them back.
Tony was finally near me now, he departed his mom with a kiss to her cheek before stepping in front of his fiancé.
The priest cleared his throat and began, "Beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of these witnesses, to join Tony Perry.." I watched the priests lips move as a chill ran down my back, I was waiting to hear a statement. Waiting and overthinking, if this was the right time to do it. I glanced out to the crowd, only few people knew what happened a year ago. I stared into the crowd like it was a Black Sea ready to gobble me up, my legs shook harder as my head became faint.By now, the priest was reading more and more verses, sweat dripped down my forehead as my eyes saw black spots dance in front of them.
I watched as his fiancé smiled, a large toothy grin. I wanted Tony but, all my mistakes have lead me here, of all places. I thought back to a year ago and felt guilt rush over me, putting a falter into my plan. I hurt him bad, he wouldn't even want me, he wouldn't want me to do this to him, he definitely-My thoughts were cut short by the phrase I was searching for, the sentence dropped from the priests mouth and my lips quivered, "Speak now or forever hold your peace."
My mouth dripped with saliva as I stared at the back of Tony's head, I was going to do this, I was going to be a selfish prick.I loudly cleared my throat, "I-I object." Tony's head turned quickly to eye me up, his smile fading to a confused expression. The crowd staring up at me and then finally, the Black Sea devoured me. My body collapsing under Tony's stare and guilt rushing over me.
The End.
